The Varavon Slide Cam EX enables smooth movement along a meter-long track for medium-sized camera rigs. Smooth camera movement is an intriguing element to add to shots that might include the shallow depth of field allowed by DSLR video cameras. The Slide Cam supports extremely heavy loads up to 298 lb (135 kg). The track can be configured in different setups - it can mount to a pair of tripods (with heads that have 3/8"-16 screws) for higher-up shots. Or it can sit on the floor or on a table, mounted on a pair of props that are included with the Slide Cam. The feet of the props can be adjusted vertically via their thumbscrews.
The Slide Cam EX's attachment plate is intended for use with a camera head that accepts a 3/8"-16 stud, such as the Manfrotto 701, 503, or 501. A fastening knob enables the sliding attachment plate to be secured to the rail, so that you can move the whole assembly safely. A bubble level on the rail indicates whether the Slide Cam is level or not. The package also includes the two ground-level props, a bag and two Allen wrenches.
