Sit down in front of an iMac and something incredible happens: The world around you seems to disappear, and you lose yourself in the big, beautiful display. To create an experience this immersive, Apple pushed every limit, rethought every detail, and advanced iMac in the most astonishing ways. The first iMac was a revolution: An All-in-One computer that put everything display, processor, graphics, storage, memory, and more inside one simple, stylish enclosure. Countless innovations later, Apple has raised the bar yet again.
iMac includes the most advanced, most brilliant desktop display Apple has ever built, and it's filled with the latest high-performance technologies. Yet it's just 5mm thin at its edge with up to 40 percent less volume than the previous generation. To do all that required unprecedented feats of engineering and imagination. Apple invented new technologies, pioneered new manufacturing techniques, and devised all-new ways to do more in less space.
iMac is amazingly thin, yet it offers fourth-generation Intel Core processors, faster graphics, the advanced Fusion Drive and flash storage options, and ultrafast 802.11ac Wi-Fi. So it's powerful enough for a design studio, production house, or science lab. And beautiful enough for any room in your home.
I would not recommend this for more than browsing the internet. Runs slower than the mid-2008 macbook pro it replaced. Multiple user profiles take minutes... MINUTES... to change from user to user. Has difficulty even running Safari and iTunes at the same time.
The newest iMac from Adorama was an excellent purchase. The item shipped fast and was in the original packaging (the white box inside a surdy brown carton). The machine, apart from other conf, also boasts of newest standard in wi-fi (ac) which makes it run super smooth.
I bought it in sep 2012. The reason I selected this model inspite of the very hight price tag was that it has a slot for external SD card and HD screen. Also it is relatively thin and light. Supposed to be fun to use. I have it for about two years now. First time it was OK. Then it started to reboot randomly without any reason for about a time or two in a week. Also it was lagging randomly so that it can freeze for about a minute then unfreeze even on light tasks like editing text in idle mode (no heavy background applications running). Couple of days ago it had entered a boot loop mode and basically turned into a brick. All it does is loads and resets without ever showing Android screen. After some research on the internet I found that many of these devices suffer from the same defect. Would not recommend to buy for anybody.
I phoned Adorama and was promptly helped by sales people who were cheerful, knowledgeable, helpful. The iMac is great. The upgrade to Mavericks was free, and easy to do. Your write up of this computer is descriptive and helpful. My husband and I have had a Mac computer since 1984, and it's been fun seeing each new feature.
While expensive this tablet rocks. Also: have a 64GB SD card in it with no issue.
Disapponted after great experiences with iPhone & iPad. Switched from PC to get Lightroom for photo processing. If you are young & don't need glasses, this machine will suit your needs. If you need to increase font size, forget it. OS X was not designed for this, unlike iOS & Windows. To make things worse, Adorama will not take back computers! There is a third-party app called Tinker Tool(not approved by Apple), which helps increase font size, but it is not ideal.
This is my first tablet. It has the plugin's I wanted that were lacking with the I-Pad. The display is super sharp. Never used Android based system, so there was a learning curve. No big deal if your half way tech savvy. Worked great right out of the box, just did some upgrades to the operating system and I was good to go. Got the keyboard too. They work well together with great battery life. Bought a cover that works with the pad or the keyboard attached. So far it's more than I expected and integrates well with my other computers, even though there all windows based. Wi-Fi works really good on my home network. Like I said before the display has amazing clarity and really nice camera. Another high tech toy I'm having a lot of fun with.
We purchased this since our 7 yr old imac was getting a bit slow and we needed two computers in the house with kids starting to use the computer more from homework, etc. This new imac is blazing fast. Migration from old imac to new imac was easy. (Use a wired ethernet for migration; migration over wifi was slow and kept failing.) I use chronosync to keep the two macs synchronized. Works great!
