The Apple Mac Pro is the professional desktop computer reinvented from the inside out. This new Mac Pro features enough power to edit full-resolution 4K video while simultaneously rendering effects in the background - and still connect up to three 4K displays.
Next-generation PCIe-based flash storage is up to 2.4 times faster than SATA-based solid-state drives and up to 10 times faster than a 7200-rpm SATA hard drive. So booting up, launching apps, even opening massive files happens in, well, a flash.
Build your dream workstation - without being limited to the space inside the enclosure. Thunderbolt 2 delivers throughput of up to 20Gb/s to each external device. And since each Thunderbolt 2 port allows you to daisy-chain up to six peripherals, you can connect massive amounts of storage, add a PCI Express expansion chassis and work with the latest 4K displays.

I design FPGA systems. I'm running simulation and synthesis on this system. Using 2 27" 2560x1440 displays. I run the simulation on OSX and the synthesis under Linux in a virutal machine under Vmware Fusion. Everyting just works. The system goes to sleep at the end of the day and wakes up in the morning - Quickly. No problems at all.
Easy to start, quiet, fast and sleek looking. It is my first computer that I'm not ashamed to keep on my desk. I like everything about this unit except: 1. Apple is not offering much to supplement their newest release. There are no units that that could use fast Thunderbolt connection. In particular I would be looking for second tower style unit that would hold HD's, CD, additional communication port as CF card reader. I hate multiple cables lying on my desk. 2. I understand that selling computer without keyboard or mouse is giving consumer freedom of choice but Apple doesn't have wireless full size keyboard or advanced keyboard powered by light. 3. There are no installed programs that could take advantage of communication with iPad, iPhone etc.. In my use, it is pictures editing it is perfect.
i use this to edit my raw photo, no lag time at all!!!
I love this BEAST! It has replaced my Mac mini, Hyper-V 2012, and ESXi 5.5. Yes, the Hyper-V and ESXi had specific functions, but I used them predominantly for their virtualization and not their nuances. Now I run all my VM's locally on the Mac Pro. Connection wise, I have a 31" Dell monitor, a 24" Dell monitor, and a Seagate drive attached via Thunderbolt as well as a Yeti Pro, Fujitsu ScanSnap, Mattias Keyboard and a Logitech mouse attached via USB. The mac Pro performs flawlessly regardless of what i throw at it, including native Mac games and Windows games running in Wine. I've been a Windows guy for the past 19 years, but this Mac Pro has made me a convert. No, it's not perfect, but it strikes a great balance of function, form, and power in a beautiful package.
