The Actiontec Powerline 200Mbps Network Adapter Kit for Ethernet-Enabled Devices provides users with fast connectivity in areas where Wi-Fi signals are weak, or a fixed Ethernet connection is needed. They provide the performance of a wired network through most electrical outlets throughout the home. Powerline networking allows you to create Internet connections wherever there's an electrical outlet in your home.
Perfect for high-bandwidth applications like HD video and audio streaming, you can gain access to your high-speed Internet, computers, gaming consoles, high-definition televisions and DVRs without installing new cabling. The Powerline Kit contains everything you need to solve many of your home network needs.
There are some distinct advantages. Fast Ethernet connections allow you to connect DVRs, Blu-ray player, DVD players, gaming consoles and OTT devices with less buffering and fewer drop-offs than wireless connections. Powerline gives you a strong connection throughout your electrical system, no matter where you connect. Electrical outlets are also more common than any other type of connection in the home, so you have many options when it comes to the location of the Adapters.
The Powerline Adapter uses your home electrical lines to create a high-speed network throughout your home. With the simple plug-and-play installation and push-button pairing, you get the performance of a wired network without running Ethernet cable.

I have an older MAC 5 Powermac on the other end of my house. It is aprox 40' away from my Verizon Router and rather than getting a wireless card for the machine I decided to buy this. I followed the instructions and in 5 minutes was up and running on Ethernet. I have not been using it long, but so far it works perfectly. It's a fast connection and it works every time. I can sleep the MAC and on wakeup the network is up. No problems. The units are smaller than I thought they would be, which is a good thing they take up less space. There may be issues with this device if you are running a vacuum cleaner plugged into the same outlet. You don't want to be running electrical appliances that may be "noisy" along the power line.
