I own the mpc5000. I bought this because i believe in backing up serious work to hardcopy, and because i dont own a cd player. It was worth the money within days of purchase because it turned the mpc into a true stand alone workhorse. Now i can bring the unit anywhere and sample from old cd collections, save my work on disc and keep moving. Sampling from old cd's which have been remastered, is far better than sampling from vinyl and far easier when the cd drive is internal. Aside from that, if i ever decide to sell my mpc, it will be a fully loaded one. So in other ways, it was an investment too.
