About Aleratec

The ergonomically-designed Aleratec High-Speed Flexible USB 2.0 4-Port Hub with Splitter Cable allows you to expand a single USB port to 4. Unlike many USB 2.0 hubs that plant additional USB ports in a rectangular box, this hub's splitter cable connects from your computer's USB port and extends out into four cables. At the end of each of these four cables is a USB 2.0 port.

This method allows you additional space and flexibility when connecting USB peripherals, such as a mouse, DVD-ROM drive, or portable hard drive. Since this hub is Plug and Play, you can immediately connect and then use it without having to first install drivers. When you have more peripherals than USB ports and want just a little more flexibility than a conventional hub can give, consider this one from Aleratec.

Aleratec Features

  • 4 USB ports for connecting USB peripheral devices
  • Ergonomically designed with flexible cables so that you can free up space when connecting USB devices
  • Plug & Play installation, no drivers required
  • Compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices

Not worth the hassle

from Franklin, NJ  -  Quality Oriented

Due to using quite a few USB ports simultaneously, I was looking to have additional options and thought this product would be a great option. Wow, I couldn't have been more wrong. What would normally take about 5-6 minutes to transfer about 8GB worth of RAW files to my external hard drive would have taken at least an hour or more with this product. The transfer speed slowed down considerably to the point of not even making it worth using. I'll take the time to unplug any USB devices I'm not using as opposed to deal with the slowness that I experienced with this product. Greatly disappointed!

Questions about this item:

Gene C  I have a car receiver that has a usb in the back of the unit. I would like to have another usb in the front. Will this Aleratec High-speed usb port hub work for this application? And is it possible to have it split into just two? If not four could work . If it works.
Andrew R  It's possible in theory, however you will need to consult the owners manual for your head unit to verify that any sort of USB hub will connect and be recognized by the unit.
Shopper  is this compatible with an external hard drive that relies on power from the usb to run the drive?
MARVIN F  I don't think so, but the people at Aleratec are very helpful. Try emailing them. The unit I got was defective. I called them, they were very nice, and sent me another immediately. It works fine, but nothing that I have hooked up needs power from the Hub.
