Large capacity and reliable

I've been using one of these for 5 years, and bought another for use in a different location. I can charge the 6 D cells for my boombox at one time!

Great product!

I bought the Ansmann Energy 8 two years ago to use it for the wireless mic in my church and never got a problem with it. Now I bought the Energy 16 because we needed a charger that can hold more batteries. Great product!

Good...but

Purchesed months ago then given to me last week. Right out of box only 8 of 12 slots worked. Too late to return. Now trying to find out how good 3-year guarantee is.

Look no further!!!

I've used this for several months. After much research I decided to purchase this. I thought that it was a bit pricey but now I can say it was worth every cent. I had old batteries that wouldn't hold a charge very long (10% of what they were new). After putting them through the refresh/charge cycle a couple of times they were as good as new. Batteries aren't cheap and the Ansmann has paid for itself and then some. The charger may not refresh/charge a battery that is totally drained. The red LED flashes indicating a "Damaged cell not usable". I put the battery in my old charger for a few minutes to give it a little charge and then put it in the Ansmann. It refreshed/charged it just fine...like new again! I use batteries until they no longer fire my flashes and have only had this occur on two old batteries. So don't worry about over-using them. I can put batteries in and leave them for a couple of days and they will not overcharge or be harmed. It will just trickle charge them without any harm. The batteries, when charging, may get hot. This is normal...not to worry. They'll cool off when they reach trickle charge. The charger will not charge the batteries too fast, which will harm the batteries. But it's still fast. The The LED indicators are a lot easier to see at a glance or distance than having to read a little screen as with some chargers. Charging 12 AA batteries at a time is great. I use this almost daily and have not had any problems. Well worth the investment. Last charger I'll need to buy.

The last and only charger you need

After researching all chargers, this one clearly came out ahead. It's ability to "exercise" and keep batteries fresh and at the ready make this the only charger we need at home. We bought the "16" to maximize the number of batteries we can charge simultaneously (i.e. I can charge my three sets of flash batteries all at once the day before departing on a trip) and the build quality is excellent. I could find no shortcomings (other than the cost but I believe you get what you pay for) in all my research. I am confident you will be as pleased as we are with this charger.

This is a top notch Charger!

Very good charger for the money. It charges fairly quickly and keeps the batteries "topped off" while they remain in the charger. I had an occasional problem with some D cells that were rated for 10000 mah but I think it was due more to the batteries themselves as it was only a specific few that refused to charge. I threw the batteries out and have not had a problem since. This charger is the best out there hands down.

Each battery charges to its own maximum

Have used this charger for 3 years. Each battery charges to its maximum capacity. Great for scuba trips: can always have fresh "AA" batteries for my camera and strobe. And can have fresh "C" batteries for my dive lights. Accepts 110-240 volt input, so just need adapter plugs, not converters when travelling. It's the best charger I've seen.

Ansmann Energy 16 Specifications

About Ansmann Energy 16

In today's modern environment, batteries of all sizes are in everyday use. To help eliminate the confusion that results with keeping all of these properly charged Ansmann is introducing their New Energy 16 charging center for NiMh and NiCd cells.

The Energy 16 system charges one to twelve AA or AAA cells, or one to six C or D cells or any combination of AA/AAA/C/D cells plus up to four-9V NiMh or NiCd cells!

The microprocessor controlled Energy 16 system automatically tests each cell for condition and indicates the state of charge, automatically refreshes or discharges them, if necessary, then switches each cell to fast charge and when fully charged to a pulsed trickle charge. If any problems are detected during charging or if a cell is improperly installed an LED will indicate which cell has a problem!

The Energy 16 charges up to twelve 2200 mAh, NiMh AA cells to full charge in 3 hours! It operates on any current from 100 to 240V/50 to 60 Hz and automatically detects and switches to the proper voltage and current!

The charger also automatically supplies the proper battery charging current from 70 mAh to 9000 mAh depending on the type of cell being charged! It charges AA cells up to 2300 mAh so it won't be outgrown by technology!

The Energy 16 is supplied with both US and EU plugs and has a 3-year warranty. A smaller version, the Energy 8 accepts up to four C or D cells or 6 AA or AAA cells in any combination plus up to 2 9V cells. Testing and charging features are the same as well as the world wide operation of the Energy 16.
