Replaced my Nook for Google Tablet
I bought the Nexus Google 7 to replace my Nook tablet. Love how lightweight it is and comfortable in my hands. With the Nook you have to purchase apps that are free on Nexus Google. I also watch shows on Hulu Plus, and the picture is very clear with quality sound. Google talk commands are fun and make internet searching fast and easy. This is the perfect size on the go, at a great price.

DOA - unable to give a good review
I opened the box, plugged it into the wall to charge, and got something that looked like a cable chanel that would not come into focus. Only worse. It did not improve. Sent back for refund. Unsure if the problem is the manufacturer or contracted company. I will not be getting this again.

This is the first generation model. It does NOT have 4G LTE data--it has HSPA+, which is pretty fast but not as fast as 4G LTE. I got a T-Mobile data micro sim and installed it, and it works for TMobile's free 200mb/month plan (and it would work with their paid plans too, should you choose one of those.) Supposedly it will also work with AT&T but I cannot confirm this.
I've had my Nexus 7 (2013 edition) for several months and I'm very happy with it. I do have to knock it one star because the touch screen is not consistantly responsive. I often have to tap something several times to get it to take. I found that using a capasitive stylus is far more reliable than my fingers. A freind has the same issue with his copy. on the positive side, this is an android device that supports Server/client functionality, so with an On-The-Go cable and a camera controller app, I can have complete control over my canon 60D with the tablet, including live view on the tablet. A much bigger live view than the tiny LCD on the back of the camera.
I'm using this tablet for reading and internet browsing and It does a great job. Great for reading a book or listening to a audiobook.Has a good screen for viewing videos and photos.
A solid, entry-level item. If you're looking for the latest, this isn't it. But it's a decent value for a knock-around tablet.
Great tablet; crisp screen and relatively easy to use; price is good too. Would benefit from a manual (online or in print). For a new user, the inability to directly read a thumbdrive in the microUSB port and some nonintuitive procedures required to search or otherwise maneuver within books have been very frustrating!
I bought this tablet to supplement my iPad. The iPad beats it on display, but the Nexus beats it on size and portability - now I would rather have the nexus to check mails, etc. The swipe to type feature works great. Battery charge is good, gets through a 6 hour flight of constant movies, music, reading. I am still getting used to the google ecosystem, still prefer iTunes. Good hardware runs everything smooth and great bang for the buck.
Very happy with the tablet. The size is comfortable to hold and it's very light. Screen clarity is amazing and i find it much more responsive than my IPhone. The Chrome browser is different to what you'd use on your desk/laptop, so takes a little fiddling to get used to. In no way a game changer, particularly since it's so fast. Did I mention the amazing screen?? I know one of the criticisms with this model is that it lacks the textured back, making it "slippery" to hold. I got a cover for it, so don't find that to be a problem at all. I was very impressed with my Adorama experience. They offered the best price and with free shipping, provided the best overall value.
Battery life is not as great as the iPad mini 1st gen that I have. Other than that I am happy with everything this nexus 7. I rated it 4 star because mine has a multitouch issue. It's a bit annoying once in a while but I can live with that. XDA has a thread with solution for this issue but I haven't bothered to try it yet.
I've had this tablet for almost 3 months now, and it's just fantastic, save for two things: 1) Because it's so thin and the back isn't "grippy" it can be a little hard to hold vertically. I find myself propping it on my pinky in my left while interacting with my right. Not a big deal, and I've gotten used to it. But it's not as easy to hold as my previous tablet (Acer A100). 2) I've started to see some touch-screen issues. Specifically, two-finger touches are sometimes mistaken for 3-finger touches. This seems to be a known issue, and firmware/software fixes are still underway, so I'm not worried. When I do have this problem (I've seen it twice now), reboot fixes it. Having said that, I love this thing. The 2GB of RAM really makes a difference, performance-wise. It's fast, the screen is nice. Android 4.3 has some nice improvements. If I'm not doing anything graphic-intensive, I can get 10+ hours out of the battery. Good speakers, etc. I did a lot of research before choosing this tablet, looking at the older Nexus 7, the Samsung Galaxy 3 and 2, the Asus Memo Pad HD 7, and HP Slate 7. This one was definitely the right choice.
Awesome display and performance. My wife and I enjoy it a lot for casual browsing, email, FB etc.
