Update

To update my comments on the silicone band issue above: I purposefully dismantled the shock mount to get experience reassembling it. And my experience is that this is a project. If the thing comes apart in the field, you'll be keeping people waiting around a while. If you lose one of the bands, the mic becomes useless.

tough to say

By

from DC

For my Panasonic TM700, started out trying Azden, which is well-made but dated, offering 2 audio improvement adjustments: on & off. Went to Rode VidMic, which has secure shock isolation and decent sound but really meant for static tripod mounting. Too large & wobbly for hand-held cam. Now am trying Vid Mic Pro. It's light and proportionate with the camcorder. Produces decent sound quality, but wonder about the 'tough ABS plastic'. Australian-made, Rode's shock suspension systems also seem the audio equivalent of Mad Max. 4 rubber bands of 2 different sizes wind complexly around the body & shoe mount, and you really need the instructions to get them reattached. When one band comes loose, they all do. We'll see....

Shopper  Hi, Is this a stereo microphone and do you know the range of coverage like 90 or 120 degrees or shotgun? Thank you very much, Ken
HAKIM B  Hello, I am not an expert in sound design, but this mic is absolutely a jam. I used it recently to tape a play at school. the mic was installed on camera and I was about 30meters from the stage at an elevation of about 6ft above stae level. My only mistake is that I let camera automatic gain control kick in a bit since I made the recording at the -10db position on thr mic. I should have had it at the flat position (0db) and lower the vol. onthe camera (Sony NEX-VG10). One recommendation is to immediately register your mic with Rode and go to Rode university site to learn more. you can also aask questions and they will respond to you in a relatively a short time. Good luck and make some noise. By the way, Adorama is the place to buy from, I have been very khappy and satisfied. Regards Hakim
