Didn't meet my expectations

Beyerdynamic has a reputation for building excellent products, and so I have enjoyed their DT990 headphones for more than a decade before I replaced them ... with the same model. That again is now more than a decade ago and I could not be happier. These headphones have an excellent balance between price and top notch performance and overall quality. Now coming from that kind of high expectations, I was already forewarned by numerous not so exciting reviews and yet decided to give them a try. That try ended within minutes after hooking them up to my iPhone 5 and noticing that they perform very poorly in direct comparison to the EarPods Apple provides standard nowadays. To make it short: I am not willing to accept something that is not even half as good for about twice the price and yet lacks some functionality. It's too bad, I really thought of some kind of mini DT990 performance level, but far from that. I wouldn't even have kept them for a fraction of the price, the sound simply isn't worth it. Mine are on their way back, sadly.
