The MeFOTO Travel Tripod with Ballhead (Titanium) is the perfect place to start. This solid aluminum tripod extends to 5.13', supports up to 17.6 lbs and folds down to 15.4". You can also easily convert this to a monopod without any tools. It features color accents on the leg section locks and top of the tripod and it's supplied with a Q series ballhead in a matching color.
The ballhead offers separate head and pan locks, a 360deg. pan index and an integral bubble level. An Arca-Swiss style quick release plate is included. The tripod's legs can be spread independently, with two-position leg angle stops. A spring-loaded hook is located in a recess at the bottom of the center column, allowing you to hang weights from it for additional stability. A durable carry case with a shoulder strap is provided for storage and transport.
I first want to thank Adorama. Great company. I read tons of reviews and really never saw anything bad but a lot of great things. It was a lot smaller than I expected but when I opened up the box and saw the build quality I was impressed. When you first open the legs I felt they were a little flimsy but when I fully extended the pod and pressed down on with weight I was impressed with the stability. The head is small but great build plenty of adjustments. Over all for the money and a walk around Tpod it's great. I would buy another one maybe the next grade up for my larger lenses. Thank you Adorama.
Its ability to fold down to a small length allows me to strap in onto my camera backpack and keep my hands free. Its easy to set up and take down. Nice change to my big and bulky Manfrotto
This little tripod is what I have been looking for to take on hikes and vacations where my other heavy tripod stays home. I like pictures of my wife and myself on trips and this tripod fits the bill. It adequately holds my Nikon D700 with my 28-300 lens. It also allows me to hike to backcountry rivers where I like to take long exposures blurring the water. I have a lighter tripod which travels well but does not hold up under the weight of my photo outfit.
I don't shoot much with a tripod, so I really didn't want to make a huge investment. The MeFOTO has been great for my medium format work and even video work. I've used it for locked down interviews and the monopod set up for run and gun short film shooting. The best part is that the tripod is super light (I have the aluminum version) and packs up to be tiny and easy to fut in any bag. For documentary work and run and gun solo shooting, this is a fantastic little tripod. And you have a quick release!!
A very nice small tripod. This should not be your primary tripod - but it is great for travel. Much better than any small tripod I have found. Ball head and a quick release mount make this a winner.
I love how compact this tripod is when collapsed and folded. It's quite solid when deployed, and ballhead provides a great amount of control. The weight hook at the bottom of the center column is really nice for securing the tripod in shaky conditions, and the detachable monopod is genius. Plus, the ballhead is arca swiss compatible, so it works perfectly with my Joby Ultraplate. It's certainly heavier than carbon fiber, but it's still lighter than other tripods I've owned, and you can't beat all the functionality at this price point.
After owning a full size carbon fiber tripod, I really like this as a go-to, carry-anywhere option. It fits in my carry-on rollerbag, so it goes with me anywhere, something my heavy tripod can't do. So no more excuses leaving a tripod at home. It's pretty sturdy to about 3', though feels less stable at full height.
I purchased one for my daughter, and then had to buy one for myself. It is very well built, light, yet sturdy and so compact; perfect for traveling.
I bought this tripod because I wanted something small to carry around for travel or short outings. Its size, when folded, fulfills perfectly my want. The tripod includes its carrying bag which I comfortably cross-carry on my back. Its load capacity is enough to support my Nikon D600 with battery grip and either the 28mm, 50mm, or 85mm f/1.8G.
I needed a tripod that is compact, yet strong enough to hold a full DSLR and mid-range zoom. This tripod fits the bill.
