Good tripod, bad service

By

from MD, USA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I have no complaints about the tripod. I did considerable research to find one that was sufficiently light and tall, but would fold small enough to fit in carry-on luggage, that had a versatile column and flip locks, and didn't charge extra for spike feet. This fits the bill. The versatile column will require some additional bracing at full extension with my Olympus OM-D E-M5 and full grip on it. Also, the leg sections don't slide out under their own weight for their full length, which slows the process of extending them quickly. All things considered, however, I am happy with the product and as the owner of another Benro tripod, know that the quality is there. On the other hand, Adorama's service could use some work. The other reviewer of this item apparently received the very same tripod that I bought, which was missing its center column, and then returned it. This tells me that Adorama listed the item as "Open box" knowing full well that it was functionally incomplete. This not only fails to meet their own definition of an open box item, but strikes me as deceptive to say the least. Open box items may be missing accessories. The center column of this tripod is not such an accessory, as its absence prevents the tripod from being attached to a camera, and thus from being used in any normal sense. It would be like purchasing a lens that had no mount. When I brought this to the attention of the agent to whom I spoke, she gave me a lot if palaver about the open box status, and said I could either keep it for what I paid or return it. I proposed a third option: receiving a partial credit for the missing column, keeping the tripod, and ordering a replacement column (which I sourced from Benro's US distributor). After being put on hold, explaining and reexplaining my case, I eventually had to ask to speak to a supervisor, who gave me the same line. I suggested that it would be in their interest to get rid of this item and that I was offering to take it off their hands with a small credit. She said she would email me with a response. Ultimately, I was credited for the column and ordered my own replacement. But the amount of grief and wasted time, to say nothing of the initial deception that Adorama tried to foist upon whomever purchased this tripod, has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Adorama has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE

By

from Pacific Coast  -  Pro Photographer

Tripod that was shipped was incomplete. Entire center was missing. Paid for 3day shipping it arrived a week after shipping notice. It has been 3 weeks and still no customer service. I have had 3 different customer service people tell me they would take care of this and nothing has happened. Promises of sending the part. Nothing. Promises of sending a new tripod. Nothing. Promises of immediate response. Nothing. Promises of confirmation emails. Nothing. And then they made the mistake of asking to respond to their service. Don't buy here!!!!! I hope this time they take care of it. Adorama looks very bad!!! I wouldn't shop here One very disappointed customer
