About Manfrotto Pro Alumin

Head 808RC4

The 808RC4 streamlines our range of 3-way heads by incorporating new elements while maintaining all the features you loved. There are two balance springs in the vertical tilt (forward/backward) and horizontal tilt (left/right) movements. These springs enable you to more comfortably handle heavier camera loads (such as very long lenses) with minimal effort.

Both springs can be turned off in case normal head operation is required. The head is comprised of aluminium and designed in a manner to support up to 8kg yet lightweight and small enough to pack in any camera kit. The standard quick release system is used to accommodate larger camera platforms which incorporates dual axis bubble levels to achieve level shots.

Tripod 055XPROB

The 055XPROB makes the famous Manfrotto-patented horizontal centre column feature even easier to use. By extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung round to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself, so switching between framing and positioning setups is more convenient than ever. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism and the quick action leg locks themselves have also been greatly improved

The Manfrotto Pro Alumin is commonly used for Home, Landscape/scenery, Night shots, Portraits, Video, Weddings and more. The Manfrotto Pro Alumin is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Semi-pro photographer among others. The Manfrotto Pro Alumin is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Manfrotto Pro Alumin: Attaches firmly, Large range of motion, Stable and Strong clamp

I purchased a 5D2 and 1D3 so I decided to get a decent tripod. After perusing many forums and online dealers, I decided on this tripod/head combination. It's not cheap nor expensive but once it arrived I was blown away at the quality. The flexibility in panning, tilting and swiveling and the smoothness of its operation is phenomenal. It isn't overly light but it is far from heavy. I used my 5D2 to create a video of my wife and dog and it was beautiful because of the easy maneuverability of this tripod combination. I am smitten and extremely happy. I am glad I took a while in deciding which tripod to purchase.

This is IT!!

By

Apparently I didn't know what a really great tri-pod was until I bought this. I have been using cheap, flimsy tripods for years. There is so much to say about this. Firstly, it is very heavy. I believe that is exactly what you need for a stable image in all conditions. It's rock solid. The build quality is excellent. It feels like a fine piece of machinery. I am 6'3" and I can use it without even raising the center tube and not have to bend over. Talk about versatility. The legs have four defined positions that let you lower this tri-pod almost completely to the floor. And the center tube converts into a boom allowing infinite combinations of position. It will support even my heaviest lens which is a monstrous Sigma 150-500 telephoto. This tripot does it all. And it was on sale for 33% off. Can not be beat!

Well built and sturdy

By

I am using this tripod mostly out in the field, I carry it on my back pack thus the weight is an issue but my budget could not stand the price per pound of carbon. It is still very easy to pack even at my age, and two new knees. The levers are easy to work and lock very well. Setting up to level is easy and it is very stable. I like this tripod.

great tripod for a good price

Fairly light, stable, easy to set up. It didn't 5 stars only because I wish it had screw out spike legs. Otherwise, I am very pleased.

First real camera tripod

By

from Gig Harbor, WA  -  Photo Enthusiast

The unit itself is a bit heavy, but really, that's what I was looking for, something to hold up out in the wilderness while getting shots of birds, wildlife or landscapes. This tripod is as described and should do just about everything I will ever need out of a tripod.

Great general purpose tripod.

Nice strong tall stance, yet gets as low as a few inches for micro shots. Just big and heavy enough to get the job done.

very stable, but slightly heavy

By

from Southern Oregon  -  Photo Enthusiast

I shoot with a 5d Mark ii. I wanted something that would feel sturdy for using my 70-200 2.8 with image stabilization. I am very pleased with my purchase. this is a very well made tripod that is easy to use. the weight isn't ideal for hiking, but I knew that it was going to be a little heavier since it isn't carbon fiber.

Sturdy and easy to use

By

from Phoenix,Az  -  Pro Photographer

This is my go to tripod for all my uses. It is very sturdy and easy to use in any situation. I have had many tripods and this one is by far my favorite. It is not that compact as my others but does extend quite high up to 70".

Excellent, but it is heavy

By

from Fort Worth, TX  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I have a Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod that is great for travel or hiking but needed something more solid for my architectural and interior photography. I also really wanted the horizontal column. I am extremely pleased with this tripod. It is very solid. My only issue with it is the weight. Between this and the head, it is very heavy. It's fine for the way I will be using it, but don't pick this thing as a travel setup. The other possible problem people might have with it is the height. I am 5'7", so with the head on it I can't fully extend the legs even with the center column collapsed. So, beware that this is a very tall tripod. Other than those two small items, this is a great tripod. It will last me for years.

What I Was Looking For

By

from Pensacola, FL  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Have been looking for a tripod with all the "extra" features that permit almost unlimited angles and height adjustments. The Manfrotto 055XPROB fit the criteria. Stayed with the 3-way pan/tilt head as that is what I am use to. This combo has fit-the-bill for anything I've called on it to do...landscape, portraits, wildlife, etc. Only minor complaint is the the aluminum tripod with head is a bit heavy but, then again, more stable than many others I've used. Too, weight can be relative to the situation so what's heavy to one individual is acceptable to others. Would buy again if I needed to.
