Let me state up front that I always read product reviews before making a purchase and will be completely honest in my review of this product. I purchased the 190CXPRO3 to replace an aluminum Manfrotto that weighed almost 6 lbs. My primary reason for the purchase was the weight reduction. My initial concerns over stability were erased after using it for portraits, landscape and night photography. Two trips to our local zoo involved numerous setups on uneven ground. The built-in level is very handy in these cases. This tripod folds and unfolds quickly and smoothly. This is important as I probably made a couple of dozen different setups or more during the zoo visits. I should also mention that the center post converts quickly to the portrait position. I am very impressed with the functionality and overall quality of this product. A true example of getting what you pay for.

I love Manfrotto products. It took me a long time to move into carbon fiber and I'm sorry I waited so long!

Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 tripod

By

I really like the horizontal bar for macrophotography. It can unfold in so many different ways... great for macrophotography. I wish the horizontal bar would fold at different angles. Slightly heavy when you ad a tripod head.

Perfect for D7000 + 18-200 VR II + SB700

By

from Chandler, AZ  -  Photo Enthusiast

The total weight of my gear is under 4 pounds. I have Nikon D7000 + 18-200 VR II lens + SB-700 Speedlight. I bought Oben BB-1 ballhead with this. This combo is great! Love this tripod - extremely light weight and feels like a rock! I looked at both 190CXPRO 4-section and 3-section tripods but liked 3-section more. The legs are sturdier with 3-section.

Excellent if you need to carry a tripod

By

from Milwaukee  -  Photo Enthusiast

I carry this tripod into wooded and prairie areas in search of macro photos of wildflowers. Its light weight makes it ideal. Most of my subjects are low to the ground and the horizontal center post and splaying legs are features that are very useful. The trade off is the maximum height when fully extended. I would not recommend this particular tripod if the photographer is tall.

Excellent Tripod for a Day at the Zoo

By

from Orange  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I bought a cheap tripod and was disappointed in the stability. Then I got a sturdy one and was disappointed with the weight. This one is light and sturdy. I should have bought it first. Works well with my D300 with an 80-400 zoom at the zoo. I can carry it around all day.

Highly Recommend

By

I purchased this a couple of years ago and am now just doing a review. I can't say enough about this tripod, its that good. I've been in photograhy 35+yrs and have had a few tripods. I main concern with this purchase was a solid/durable/lightweight tripod and this fits the bill to a tee! I mated it with the Manfrotto 498 ball head which is rated for 17lbs so I knew it would hold my Nikon D90 w/attached battery grip and a SB900 with no problem even with the 17-55mm f2.8 lens in the vertical position!. I also purchased the Manfrotto RC2 rapid connect plate. I later added a Manfrotto Carbon Fiber monopod and added the same head w/the RC2 for compatability. Purchase this, you won't be dissapointed. FWIW I also recommend the Manfrotto Rubber Suction Cup feet.
