Any of David Buschs books are worth the money. Recommend to get the field guide and go shooting and work on what he teaches in the book.

Lot of good, useful information on the D7000. I refer to this book quit often. A must have for your specific camera.

The Nikon D7000 is Nikon's new mid-level dSLR, suitable for advanced digital photography students. It features a 16.2 megapixel sensors, full HDTV video, ISO up to 6,400 and a brand-new exposure sensor with 2,016-pixel resolution. David Busch's Nikon D7000 Guide to Digital Slr Photography shows students how, when and why to use all the cool features, controls and functions of the D7000 to take great photographs of anything.
Introductory chapters will help students get comfortable with the basics of their camera before they dive right into exploring creative ways to apply D7000 file formats, resolution, aperture/priority exposure and automatic exposure features. Beautiful, full-color images illustrate where the essential buttons and dials are, so they'll quickly learn how to use their D7000 and use it like a pro!
