I had a very difficult time making sense of Nikon's user guide for my D40x, so I bought the Magic Lantern Guide. Still no luck! I picked this book as a last resort & have never needed anything else. The main draw to this book is that it's written for the beginner, with clear, concise explanations of technology & terminology, but it also gives insight into what makes for "good" photography. I looked up "fireworks" at dusk one July 4th, and followed the suggestions... I immediately got great results! I've included a picture, as a reference. Bear in mind, all I did was convert it from RAW & crop it.
