Understand it's not a flash, it is good for fill in light, I bought it for my Canon xl1s, very useful on my grab and go use, and yes, instructions are few, but enjoy the learning curve, you'll be a better videographer in the long run, I'll use mine more in the next few months as I get my pet projects off the ground.

I already reviewed this and awaiting it to go live but wanted to address the other reviewers comments. The battery compartment does have -+ markings. They are really small but they are there and will help you put the batteries in correctly.

These lights are BRIGHT...nice feature is they are adjustible as well and comes with two diffusers, one is clear and the other is amber colored to warm the color up a bit. Only con and minor one is the build quality is not super premium. Not junk but not top of the line but overall a very nice light. PLUS, order the two pack for the same price.

Okay, they should tell you how the batteries go in! No markings, no isnstructions. Once I figured it out (cross pattern -/+:+/- from top left) I could compare lights. I own two other lights to compare, a 96-LED and a 160-LED, both of the flat type. Measured by the f-stop of my DSLR, the Bescor was equal in brightness to my 160-LED - at the center. If you need wide coverage, go for the bigger light, but if you're shooting close, the Bescor will add about 5-1/2 stops of light at 5 feet. It also lasts a good while on 4-AA batteries, and is much more compact than the flat-panel type. Solid construction, but I wish the bottom foot was metal; includes threading for 1/4" socket. All in all, a good buy!
