About Bower SX4DGN

The Bower's 2x DGII Teleconverter (4 Element) for Nikon will effectively double the focal length of your Nikon lens, while maintaining the autofocus function. A 50 mm lens becomes a 100 mm lens. The teleconverter uses multi-coated optics to deliver high-quality images. With an 85 mm f/1.4 lens, for example, the focal length will become 170 mm, which effectively sets the maximum aperture at f/2.8 (cutting the amount of light captured by two f/stops). This teleconverter is a portable and versatile accessory that's well worth having in your camera bag. It's only compatible with Nikon F mount lenses with a maximum aperture greater than f/4.0 in order to fully utilize its autofocus capabilities.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I have a nikon 80-400 4.5-5.6 lens. Will a Bower 2x teleconverter work with this lens on mnial focus?
Andrew R  Manual focus may be possible however the manufacturer indicates the following: " compatible with Nikon F mount lenses with a maximum aperture greater than f/4.0 in order to fully utilize its autofocus capabilities."
Feroz F  Will the autofocus work with the current Nikon 80-200 AF-D lens? Currently Nikon TCs work only with the older AF-S version
Andrew R  That would depend on the version there's an f/2.8 version that should (in theory) work with this TC. The f/4.5-5.6 version will not be fast enough for autofocus to function properly.
John J  So will this work on my D3200 and let me use auto focus?
GARY S  Yes, provided the lens is an SW series lens. SW stands for silent wave. SW lenses have a silent wave autofocus motor built into the lens. Older AF series lenses rely on an autofocus motor built into the camera body. The D3200 has no autofocus motor in the body and therefore will not autofocus with AF series lenses. Hope that helps.
