About Bower SX7DGS

The Bower's 2x DGII Teleconverter (7 Element) for Sony will effectively double the focal length of your Sony lens, while maintaining the autofocus function - a 35 mm lens becomes a 70 mm lens. This 7-element teleconverter uses multi-coated optics to deliver improved image quality. With an 85 mm f/1.4 lens, for example, the focal length will become 170 mm, which effectively sets the maximum aperture at f/2.8 (cutting the amount of light captured by two f/stops). This teleconverter is a portable, high-quality and versatile accessory that's well worth having in your camera bag. It's only compatible with lenses with a maximum aperture greater than f/4.0 in order to fully utilize its autofocus capabilities.

works as described.

I bought this teleconverter for the purpose of using it with my 70-300mm lens. It does the job as intended. It will not auto focus with this lens, but I am not using this for action shots. The price is reasonable and it does the job. I have not used it enough to find any flaws with it. I might add that it does auto focus with my 50mm 1.8 lens.

Questions about this item:

sharon l  I have a Sony A10f0 DSLR (auto focus) the lens I have is a 18-200 with a range of 3.5-6.3 f. What 2x teleconverter is recommended to work with the auto focus option?
Andrew R  This unit should autofocus with most Sony/Minolta "A" mount lenses that have a maximum aperture greater than f/4.0. Lenses slower than f/4.0 will not allow enough light to pass through and provide the autofocus system with enough subject contrast to function. Keep in mind that most 2x teleconverters cause a 2 stop loss of light.
Shopper  Can this teleconverter be used on a Sony telephoto lense?
Andrew R  Yes, this teleconverter should work with many "A" mount lenses. It's only compatible with lenses with a maximum aperture greater than f/4.0 in order to fully utilize its autofocus capabilities.
andrew l  Dear Sir, can this teleconverter used iwth a minolta f4 70 to 210 mm, f4 35 to 70 mm lens and sony alpha camera 65 in auto mode ? can this teleconvertor used with a sony f3.5-f 22 16 to 80 mm SAM motor lens and sony alpha camer a? thank you
Andrew R  This should work with the Sony 16-80mm at the very least. If the Minolta lenses are autofocus lenses then those should work, though they're likely untested. If the Minolta lenses are MD/MC mount manual lenses, then no, those will not be compatible. Full auto mode will only be possible if the lenses are f/4 or faster.
