•When added to a lens they greatly narrow the depth of field while reducing the minimum focusing distance of your lens.
•The effective focal length of the dioptere are:
• +1 = 1000mm
• +2 = 500mm
• +3 = 333mm
• +4 = 250mm
• +5 = 200mm

  • Diopters require no exposure compensation.

Shopper  Which is better: close up filter glass or extension?
KENT W  From my point of view the "Macro/Micro Lens" is my first pic, then the Close Up Glass Filters. That said, when I am in the field shooting and do not have any of my 3 Macros with me because the project I am working on is, lets say landscape and I come across a shot needing close up work, I break out my "Close UP Filters Kit" (NL-1,2,3,4 and NL-5). screw on my selection to my (always with me) 50mm or 105mm primes and shoot. Packing to many lenses trying to cover everything becomes very heavy and these Close up filters are light, and do not take up much space. Your lens quality makes the difference between good or great shot, not the filters because a crappy lens will only get worse with these filters. I do not use extension tubes. I have converted ALL my lens collection to 77mm with adapters (55mm to 77mm etc) because now I need only carry 1 set of 77mm R-G-O-Y filters and the same goes for everything else we clip, screw and snap onto our Glass! Bottom line is, I have fun with photography and these "Close Up Filters" are much, much less expensive than my Macro/Micro lenses, lighter too. V/R Kent
