About B + W

This UV Filter blocks the invisible UV component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many color films react with a blue cast. These filters should be called UV-Blocking Filters, because there are filters for technical applications that pass UV radiation and block all the other wavelengths.

Nevertheless, the short term "UV Filter" has become established among photographers. UV Filters are ideal for photography in high altitudes (in the mountains), by the sea and in regions with very clean air.

The pictures gain brilliance and disturbing blue casts are avoided. Because the glass is colorless, color rendition is not altered, aside from the elimination of the unwanted blue cast, and no increase in exposure is required.

That makes a UV Filter very suitable as protection of the front element of the taking lens against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. It is recommended for analog color and black-and-white as well as digital photography.

XS-Pro Extr a-Slim
Provides extra-slim mounting rings that eliminate problems associated with SLR wide-angle and telephoto imaging. This mount is especially suited for DSLRs with wide angle lenses. This mount will avoid vignetting with most 17mm lenses on a full frame body. Some report success with lenses as wide as 16mm. It has a front thread for additional accessories such as lens caps or hoods. All XS-Pro Digital mounts are made of brass and are matte black to prevent reflections. Only UV, Clear, and Käsemann Circular Polarizers are offered in this mount, with the latest MRC nano coating.

Always Shoot a test to confirm with your equipment.

Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) with Nano Technology
The nano coating is an outer layer of protection that comes standard with all XS-Pro Digital MRC filters. The nanotechnology based characteristic (lotus effect) produces a better beading effect with water making the cleaning of this filter even simpler and faster than ever before. MRC nano has an improved outer (8th) layer over regular MRC.

MRC by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches (for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent, thus facilitating filter maintenance.

Quality product as usual

I have bought few expensive uv filter and some cheap ones. There are huge difference between them. The lens I got is 16-35 f2.8 ii, the noticeable different is focusing. The cheap ones about 10-40 bucks range cannot even get focus in a lot of condition. The only reason I want to get uv filter is to protect the lens replacing 100 bucks glass is much cheaper than sending back the Lens. Anyway, after few rounds of test this b+w filter is the closest output as no filter so I am happy with the result.

it was for my new canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L ii, and it was good metal filter that gave a new lens a protection. it was just perfect fit for the lens, and i am using it with full satisfaction.

Necessary Evil

A UV filter is not a sexy piece of kit, but when taking your expensive glass out into the elements it's essential to complete weather sealing and protect the front element. MRC coating on this filter seems to minimize flare as effectively as the lens coating. B+W filters are the only glass I trust in front of my lenses.

Works great as expected

I bought it to protect my Canon 24-70 2.8 MII, but I also wanted it to be clear ( not effect the quality of the lense. I believe it does what I expected.

Great filter, no vignetting

By

from Washington, DC  -  Photo Enthusiast

I use this filter with my Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II on my Canon 5D Mark II. It works great with no noticeable vignetting. Like all B+W filters, the construction is top notch. Highly recommended!
