EF-S Lenses
By reducing the distance from the rear of the lens to the focal plane and reducing the size of the image circle to match the size of the APS-C imaging sensor used in digital SLRs such as the EOS 20D camera and Digital Rebel camera,Canon's EF-S lenses reduce the size, weight and cost of wide-angle lenses for these cameras while at the same time producing high image quality with superb resolution and contrast at all focal lengths.

EF-S 10-22 3.5/4.5 USM
This exciting new zoom lens provides ultra wide-angle coverage to the EOS 20D camera and Digital Rebel camera shooter. Equivalent toa 16-35mm zoom for a 35mm film camera, it offers excellent performance and optics designed from the ground-up for digital SLR use. Excluding fisheye lenses, the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens has the shortest minimum focal length ever offered for interchangeablelens digital SLRs with APS-C image sensors.

Photographers will achieve consistently excellent image quality throughout the zoom range of this lens because of its 3 Aspherical elements and 1 Super-UD element in a 13-element optical formula. A ring-type ultrasonic focusing motor (USM) provides fast and silent AF along with full-time manual focus. Minimum focusing distance is 9.5 inches for breathtaking close-ups. The EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens is relatively light and compact at 3.5 inches in length and a weight of 13.6 oz. The new lens accepts 77mm filters and can be fitted with an optional bayonet-mount lens hood.

Please Note: This lens is compatible only with the EOS 20D, EOS 30D, EOS 40D, EOS 50D, D7 and all EOS Rebel and EOS Digital Rebel models with APS-C sized sensors
Not suitable for 35mm film SLR cameras, or for 35mm size "full-frame" digital cameras, e.g. 1Ds or Kodak Pro SLR/c.

SUPERB SUPER-WIDE LENS

I buy only L lenses for my Canon cameras -- whether digital or film. There is one exception. I bought this 10-22mm for use with my EOS 40D. This lens, in my experience (a serious photographer for more than 50 years) is the equivalent to an L lens in every respect. It is a "must have" for anyone shooting an APS-C sensor digital body and desiring absolutely superb wide-angle performance.

qaulity short lived

This is the 4th Canon lens I have owned. I never had any trouble with my previous Canon products. After 7 months of normal use the len became very loose in the mid section. This problem is not coverd by the warranty. I don't know how often this happens or what caused problem. I was always very careful with this lens as with all my lenses.

My Go2 Lens

By

from New York, NY.

I'm an amateur, and I have loved this lens from the first shot. I enjoy walking and taking in the sites, in both urban and nature settings.. This lens takes it all in. It is my first lens of choice, so that I can get the big picture, and then zoom in on details later. This lens was my first purchase to add to my Rebel T5, which I love despite what some reviews from experts might say. The camera is great for those who are new, or on a budget. I use a Rebel T5, APS-C sensor, camera, which makes the rated 10-22mm focal lengths range effectively a focal length range of 16-32mm. At the 22mm setting this lens gives you a very wide field of view without much in the way of distortion, or fish-eye effect. The images look like they were taken with a regular prime lens to me. But, at the 10mm setting you will not only get a much wider viewing angle, you will also get some subtle fish-eye effects, which I happen to like, and the picture remains sharp. I love taking pictures of classic architecture styles, art deco is everywhere in New York City, and larger than life statues, which we also have in abundance. This lens is great for capturing it all creative angles. No need for a helicopter ride to take it all in.

Best Purchase Ever

By

from Fort Collins, CO

I left my Canon outside during a rainstorm for six hours or more and this lens was attached to the camera. I separated the lens and body and dried them of the condensation. This lens still works beautifully as does the body (7d). I definitely recommend this lens to anyone considering it.

Another Winner!

By

from Wyoming

Canon has been my favorite tool for the photography I've done throughout the past 50 years. I started with the FTb, graduated into a full F1 system, and when digital came along used the XTi and then a 1D, and now have a 60D, which I mainly use for scenic HDR panoramas. I had been using the EFS 18-135 lens for these, and wanted a larger angle of view, but on my limited retirement income could not afford the "L" series class. I purchased the 10-18mm lens, and am very happy with the results it renders. I don't find any problem with it having the plastic (instead of metal) rear housing. The optics are excellent, as I have come to expect from Canon, and I am very happy with the value I have received for my money - Thanks, Canon!

I expected more for the price.

By

from Medford,NY  -  Photo Enthusiast

I bought this 10-24mm wide angle lens because I heard so many photographers from the tutorials I have been watching, state that this is one that they usually carry in their bags for landscapes. I was about to go on my first trip to the Maine coastline and was extremely excited to try it out on those interesting seascapes. I was slightly disappointed. I could not get used to the barrel distortion on the edging and even if I used an ISO of 100, the noise was very pronounced. For the price, I was expecting more. I am sending this one back and probably spend a little more to try the 16-35mm.

Sharp and Wide

By

from Michigan  -  Photo Enthusiast

I've been experimenting with both lens and software since its arrival. The lens appears sharp throughout its range, and can be used pretty close to the sun without internal reflections when combined with the hood, which is HUGE, blocking the bottom quarter of the picture with the on-camera flash. I've got the 430EXII speedlite, and with the flash on the camera shoe the hood is out of play. Needs a good diffuser on the flash to use at ~15mm. Much below that focal length and you'd best be shooting ambient. I'm open to suggestions for spreading the flash, if anyone has one. Great inside and group lens if you have the light. Now to save up for the polarizer for wide outdoor shots.

Amazing lens, amazing photos

By

from Undisclosed

This is one of the best lenses I've owned. It's indcredibly sharp and the color quality is first-rate. Even the lens flare is well handled, which is rare in an ultra-wide lens. As it is so wide, the photographer has to be prepared for the distortion. For landscapes and architecture on a cropped sensor, this lens is perfect. The only complaint I have is that it didn't come with a hood. Well, it was a tad pricey, too.

As good as new

By

from kc. mo.  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I love this lens. I bought it for the purpose of wide angle landscape(hopefully low light) shots when I go to Zion in July. In the meantime I've been using it for close ups, (within 2'-3') at interesring angles. I always read reviews of lenses before purchasing to understand the ranges and lmits of a lens.I've found those reviews not exactly helpful as I generally try to be creative and shoot beyond those limits. This lense is no exception to my style. Spend some time, get to know it. I think you'll love it!

Bought used but it's like new!

By

from kansas city, MO.  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I love this lens. I bought it for the purpose of shooting low light landscape when I go to Zion in July. In the meantime I've been playing with close up, 2'-3' at interesting angles. I read the reviews but try not to limit myself by the things those reviews define. I'm having a great time with it. As always Adorama did not disappoint my expectations on the quality description or the delivery time. Love It.

Questions about this item:

Xochi B  will this work with the EOS 60D?
JOHN V  I have had terrific results with this lens on a Canon 60D. Photographs are sharp with no noticeable falloff in resolution when lens wide-open. I strongly recommend the combination. JV
Xochi B  That's cool. You know, recently I listened to the director of Paper Moon while watching the movie and the whole movie was shot on wide lenses, he starts describing what you see, I hadn't noticed but it was so great to be able to see a close up of the actors and still see the details of the background. I think I'll have to get this lens! (it'll take me a long while to get what he got but worth a try!) Thanks! Xochi
Lynn V  I want a really good lens for doing indoor real estate photography. Which lens would you recommend? I was told to get the Canon EF 17-40/4 L USM but this one, the Canon EF-S 10 mm-22mm f/3,5-4.5 USM sounds pretty hot. Which one would be the best bang for the buck and would do the best indoor house photos? Thanks Lynn
ALEXANDER B  It depend what kind of camera you have. For full frame I would recomend the EF17-40, for crop, the EF 10-22. Ultimately the decision is yours, both are very good lens.
Lynn V  I have the Canon 40D and the Rebel T2i so either one would be in use. I am doing in home photo shoots for a real estate agent and would like the best lens for the shots, so any advice would be great. Sometimes it would be in low light but I would have a tripod, so... let me know. Thanks Lynn
