About Canon 24-105mm

• This easy-to-use standard zoom lens can cover a large zoom area ranging from 24mm wide-angle to 105mm portrait-length telephoto, and its Image Stabilizer Technology steadies camera shake up to three stops. Constructed with one Super-UD glass element and three aspherical lenses, this lens minimizes chromatic aberration and distortion. The result is excellent picture quality, even at wide apertures. Canon's ring-type USM gives silent but quick AF, along with full-time manual focus. Moreover, with dust- and moisture-resistant construction, this is a durable yet sophisticated lens that meets the demands of advanced amateur photographers and professional photographers alike.

Awesome!

So I bought this lens because I wanted a nice "L" lens for an everyday shooting kind of lens. I was using the kit lens with my T1i (18-55mm) and upgraded to this one. This lens has proven to be a great investment and I have only had it for 24 hrs. Sharp focus, Quiet, Durable, East to pack. The kit lens I had a was a f3.5 at its fastest. This is a f4. But having the IS with it makes it super easy to get a great picture in low light and more than likely you will use some form of flash anyway so...

So I bought this lens because I wanted a nice "L" lens for an everyday shooting kind of lens. I was using the kit lens with my T1i (18-55mm) and upgraded to this one. But having the IS with it makes it super easy to get a great picture in low light and more than likely you will use some form of flash anyway so then it's just a great "L" lens for a great price. The focal length is a nice one with smooth barrel operation. I bought the "grey" market one based on the price. Some folks said spend the extra and put the middle man in (Canon USA) But I took my chances banking on the fact that more than likely the lens would be of the same quality since it is probably made in the same factory. Just a thought, not the Gospel.

Almost the perfect general purpose lens

By

from Kentucky

The build quality and zoom range are excellent and the focusing is spot-on. My only real complaint, other than wishing it was a 2.8, is that the images are not quite as sharp as I would like. Don't get me wrong, the images it produces are very good to great, but I would not rate them as excellent. That being said, unless you are a professional photographer who demands the absolute sharpest images, this lens will do nicely. For this zoom range I have not found a better lens.

Best walk around lens I've had

By

from Portland, Or

This lens is why I am shooting full frame (5DII) as well as crop (7D0. Very good performance, with filter on, is nearly waterproof. Great for shooting coast scenics in the winter, snow in winter, Portland gardens in the rain, etc Mt Hood, St. Helens. For backpacking, much lighter than f2.8 24-70 and more reach. I pair it with f.4 70-200L is. Also good for portraits because of f4.

Great L Lens from Canon

By

from Greensboro, NC  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I lucked up and found this lens in the used department in perfect condition. This a great zoom lens, there's a reason it's the kit lens on the newer 5 D's. It's a sharp lens, not a 2.8, but at a maximum aperture of 4 it's still great. Arguably a better lens than the 24 - 70, this lens has Image Stabilization, which is a big plus. Quick autofocus, nice build quality, you won't be disappointed.

My favorite walk around lens

By

from Arcata, Ca

My second purchase of this lens as the first one was stolen from me. That sentence should tell you how I feel about this lens. I bought this one with the 5DmkIII kit but would have bought the lens separately if it was not available as a kit lens. Make NO bones about it, people have a bad preconception of most kit lenses, that is not the case with this lens, it is after all an "L" lens for a reason The 24-105f4L is USM is my all time favorite walk around lens.

Used but not abused

By

from New York  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I bought a V-level used lens first and although it produced wonderful images, it had one physical kink that I couldn't get over. So a week later I went back to Adorama, and the staff helped me chose a lens quality that fit what I was looking for. An E-rated lens was just right for me. No visible physical issues, perfect functionality, and again wonderful images. Very very happy with this purchase, the focal length is just right for portraiture/events and the aperture is wide enough to get the quality that I need. The lens is sturdy and easy to use, would recommend to anyone, used or new if you have the extra $ :)

Good value

By

Bought this lens to shoot a competitive cheerleading event - worked perfectly with subjects constantly moving around. The f4 throughout the length comes in handy since the only lights that were on were above the girls (and guys).

Great All-Purpose Lens!

By

from Dunedin, FL  -  Photo Enthusiast

I've wanted an L lens for a while to use as my all-purpose lens - the one that rarely leaves my camera body. I'm still getting used to it, but I'm very pleased with the sharpness of this lens. It's somewhat heavy and I really have to use a good tripod in lower light situations, but it's crisp, clear, and is perfect for shots that don't require a long zoom. I love it!

JERRY M  A grey market lens is one that is probably fine both cosmetically and technically, but it does not carry a U.S.A. warranty from the manufacturer. If you buy a U.S. lens that is covered by Canon's warranty and something happens within the time guaranteed, the company will fix or replace the lens if the lens is defective. A grey market lens carries no coverage, and the buyer will have to repair or replace the lens himself/herself if the lens proves defective.
