Most Liked Positive Review

So I bought this lens because I wanted a nice "L" lens for an everyday shooting kind of lens. I was using the kit lens with my T1i (18-55mm) and upgraded to this one. This lens has proven to be a great investment and I have only had it for 24 hrs. Sharp focus, Quiet, Durable, East to pack. The kit lens I had a was a f3.5 at its fastest. This is a f4. But having the IS with it makes it super easy to get a great picture in low light and more than likely you will use some form of flash anyway

But having the IS with it makes it super easy to get a great picture in low light and more than likely you will use some form of flash anyway so then it's just a great "L" lens for a great price. The focal length is a nice one with smooth barrel operation. I bought the "grey" market one based on the price. Some folks said spend the extra and put the middle man in (Canon USA) But I took my chances banking on the fact that more than likely the lens would be of the same quality since it is probably made in the same factory. Just a thought, not the Gospel.

Great ever.!!!

Of my test, morning, noon, night, with or without my flash the pictures were superb. indep, shadows, shade, sharpness softness or hard beautiful simply beautiful. I am mostly manual sometimes Auto beautifully taken and done. I can not say no more, what can I say. I leave the rest to the others.

If you are starting with just one!

I LOVE this glass! If you are only able to start with one lens.. this is it!! It's universally great for so many situations. It can handle macro to telephoto.. great for videos and photographs, action and still. THIS IS HOW YOU START!!

Good wide range kit lens

This lens came with the 5diii I purchased right before a trip to Puerto Rico. I also brought the 50mm1.2 and 70-200mm2.8 ii and out of the three for that particular trip the 24-105 spent the most time on the camera as being the most versatile. So far I have no complaints about the lens and will be definitely bringing it with me on future trips as an all around travel lens. The size and weight are not bad. it took a little punishment in the rain forest(rain) and some more at the beaches in the form of sand completely unharmed. Overall I beleive it will be a good lens.

Sweet lens

I am very happy with this sweet lens. Very versatile and smooth!

Almost the perfect general purpose lens

The build quality and zoom range are excellent and the focusing is spot-on. My only real complaint, other than wishing it was a 2.8, is that the images are not quite as sharp as I would like. Don't get me wrong, the images it produces are very good to great, but I would not rate them as excellent. That being said, unless you are a professional photographer who demands the absolute sharpest images, this lens will do nicely. For this zoom range I have not found a better lens.

Best walk around lens I've had

This lens is why I am shooting full frame (5DII) as well as crop (7D0. Very good performance, with filter on, is nearly waterproof. Great for shooting coast scenics in the winter, snow in winter, Portland gardens in the rain, etc Mt Hood, St. Helens. For backpacking, much lighter than f2.8 24-70 and more reach. I pair it with f.4 70-200L is. Also good for portraits because of f4.

Great L Lens from Canon

I lucked up and found this lens in the used department in perfect condition. This a great zoom lens, there's a reason it's the kit lens on the newer 5 D's. It's a sharp lens, not a 2.8, but at a maximum aperture of 4 it's still great. Arguably a better lens than the 24 - 70, this lens has Image Stabilization, which is a big plus. Quick autofocus, nice build quality, you won't be disappointed.

My favorite walk around lens

My second purchase of this lens as the first one was stolen from me. That sentence should tell you how I feel about this lens. I bought this one with the 5DmkIII kit but would have bought the lens separately if it was not available as a kit lens. Make NO bones about it, people have a bad preconception of most kit lenses, that is not the case with this lens, it is after all an "L" lens for a reason The 24-105f4L is USM is my all time favorite walk around lens.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  what is gray market?
JERRY M  A grey market lens is one that is probably fine both cosmetically and technically, but it does not carry a U.S.A. warranty from the manufacturer. If you buy a U.S. lens that is covered by Canon's warranty and something happens within the time guaranteed, the company will fix or replace the lens if the lens is defective. A grey market lens carries no coverage, and the buyer will have to repair or replace the lens himself/herself if the lens proves defective.
Shopper  What is grey market?
NEO S  The warranty period for both grey market and non grey market (in this case anyway) is the same. The difference is that Canon fixes your product if something goes wrong within the first year vs Adorama fixing your product if something goes wrong n the first year. After the first year, you don't have a warranty anyway and it's highly unlikely that something will go wrong during the warranty period. However, I believe if you buy from a reputable authorized dealer like Adaroma, you won't have any issues, even if they can't fix it, I hear that Canon will still provide warranty service.
Shopper  is the compatible with 60d?
ERIC E  Yes, it is. I've been using this lens on a 60D for a year now. The IQ is superb. No regrets whatsoever with this purchase.
