Felt liner; durable; fits in fastpack100

Many positive things have been said, so I won't repeat: higher price + higher quality. I have not found the following comment online so far however. I've tried several hoods at Adorama NYC. Compared to other cheaper copy-cat hoods, this particular hood has a thin felt liner on the inside of the cylinder. This liner absorbs more light. The liner is difficult to notice in pictures. Reversible; fits reversed in Lowepro Fastpack 100 with Xsi + hand/wrist grip.

Works as it should

This lens hood works as it should. But, for the price of the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 this should be included with the lens.

Fits perfectly

This hood fits absolutely perfectly on the 17-55mm EF-S IS USM lens. It also attaches quite easily. The only downside is the high cost for a hood, but it is perfect.

Used Canon lens hood EW-83J

In great shape, couple of slight scuff marks as described in the used department ratings. Fits perfectly on the Canon EF-S 17-55 f2.8 lens. well packaged.

great hood

By

from New Haven, CT  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I purchased a used Canon lens from Adorama that had a generic hood included in the price. Unfortunately the hood arrived broken, but Adorama immediately replaced it with the Canon version of the hood. As always, Adorama was a pleasure to deal with and has great customer service. As far as the hood goes, there is a definite improvement in the build quality over the generic version. That said, I'm not sure if there is any difference in performance that would justify the hefty price of the name brand. Even so, it a great hood that fits snugly and stays on your lens.

Good looking hood

Cheaper than Canon MSRP, but should have been included with the lens which is over $1000

Works fine

Still hard to believe Canon doesn't include this with the lens. Quality very good, fits securely. Service and speed of delivery from Adorama excellent.

Works Smoothly

By

I don't have any others to compare but this goes on easily, fits tight. I like the feel of the little detent that lets me know it's on all the way. I use it all the time and would feel vulnerable without a hood on any lens

Buy genuine Canon products

By

I bought a knock off of this lens hood. That is exactly what it did. It kept knocking off the lens. I spent more time picking it up off the ground than it spent on the lens. BUY GENUINE CANON. I purchased this lens hood and it has stayed on the lens and not fallen off once. You get what you pay for.

Fits perfectly

I have had a cheap no-name lens hood, and one was enough. I thought I was going to damage the lens while putting it on or taking it off, it was that tight. The ones made by Canon fit perfectly and are fairly tough.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JEREMIAH J  Always get a lens hood. It offers physical protection and protection from sun flare.
Shopper  Is this item a new or used? Thanks
PAUL V  I would say at 44.95, it better be new. Lol I had this hood & the 17-55 lens before. This hood will reduce flare & more importantly, protect the front element.
Shopper  does this lens hood fit a canon wide angle lens 10-22mm?
GREGORY D  Don't know for sure - probably will attach, but would almost certainly cause vignetting at the wider settings. If you want "more" hood than the one designed for the 10-22, try the one made for the 24-105.
