would buy this camcorder again

the exposure settings could be a bit better and the camera misses a neutral density filter option. i personally miss a lot the view finder. but the quality of the images is great and for underwater filming the camera has an extremely well working autofocus (much better than sony cameras). the colours are beautiful and the low light capacity is very good.

Canon VIXIA HF S10 Review

The software that comes with this camera is inadequate at best. 3 cd's worth of software, all of which I would lable as garbage. I also own a small pocket HD camcorder. The software that comes preloaded on it is hands down more user friendly and stable. When importing movies from the camera to the pc there are no options to save the files as different names, you are forced to use the date generated file # that the camera gives you. The picture quality on this camera is awesome. I'm happy with the quality of the movies (in Bright to Fair lighting) the quality of movies in low level lightings is poor. I attempted a few shots using the "night" shot without any likeable results. It also seems a little slow to autofocus at times. The battery must be charged while inside the camera, I would think they could have added a seperate battery charger for the price. This camera records in .mts format. Not a big deal to me as it seems alot of camera companies are going with this format, and Windows 7 will be supporting it. In order to transfer pictures/movies to the computer you have to have the power cable connected to the camera which seems like a hastle to me. The design of the flash is great and nicely located. the location and design of the controls seem fairly well thought out. I would like to see them add some high FPS shooting features, and better low light capabilities, then design some decent software to allow the consumer to actually use the files it creates, without scowering the web for 3 days to find adequate replacement software.
