The Cotton Carrier Universal Adapter Plate is intended for most users of any tripod mounts. Once you have attached your tripod's quick release plate to the plate, you can switch easily between your tripod and your Cotton Carrier Camera Vest or Side Holster only using the Camera Hub that you already own.

I use this adapter for the cotton carrier chest vest. It allows me to have my hands free for other things when the camera is not in use such as for hiking. You must really tighten down the bolt or it will move every so slightly. Don't think of using is without the rubber gasket. It's not an absolute stay tight adapter, but I abuse mine with whipping out the camera from the carrier. At the end of the day everything gets a check over any way and I will tighten the bolt if necessary. It is a little bulky where it extends out beyond the camera body but if you have a deep camera pack you are good to go. Mine is about 5"-6" deep.
This is a really great adapter that allows you to keep your tripod quick release plate attached to the camera and utilize your cotton carrier system. I do a lot of nature and landscape photography, so I am constantlt moving from place to place, so the cotton carrier system allows me to quickly stow my camera safely and protect the lenses, but then I need to be able to quickly remount back on the tripod when I get to my next shooting spot. I have this on both my Nikon D300s and now my new D610. The only complaint I would have is the rubber gasket/cushion extends slightly over the batter door making it difficult to open and there doesn't appear to be any reason for it to extend that far.
If you're like me, and love the Black Rapid straps, but hate having to take them off when you want to use your tri/monopod, this is a wonderful little invention; I hope the guy that developed them gets rich! It takes about 10 minutes to attach to the camera, and probably wont come off my camera until I buy a new one. This makes it possible to attach my PU-60 Quick Release Plate permanently to the camera, along with the attachment for the Black Rapid. Quick, easy & solid!
