Cinevate Cyclops DSLR Viewfinder

About Cinevate

The Cinevate Cyclops DSLR Viewfinder is a revolutionary HDSLR viewfinder designed to accommodate a variety of HDSLR camera LCDs. It's remarkable design allows a filmmaker to achieve critical focus from as far away as 36". Unlike most viewfinders, Cyclops does not attach to the LCD with velcro or tape. Instead, it uses a innovative mounting system to provide flexibility and stability during usage.

Using precision molded fiber-reinforced composite, the Cyclops sled starts out as a highly engineered foundation for nearly limitless rigging options. The impressive 72mm optic uses several exotic glass elements that are optically bonded, then fully coated for maximum brightness. The optic can be quickly removed and attached to the front of your camera via its 72mm threads. The result is a +5 power macro with resolution to match even full size HDSLR sensors. If you're looking to capture detail like the compound eye elements of a spider, you'll want to try this macro out front! If it's that good out front of your camera, imagine how razor sharp it is out back. Fully adjustable (3 axis) to accommodate even larger cameras like the Nikon D3s and Canon 1D MkIV, the finder does not attach in any way to your LCD. No velcro, sticky tape or elastics!

Its size is 20cm (8") long, 14cm (5.5") at its widest and 7.5 (3") high. Why is Cyclops as large as it is? The answer is immediately obvious when using the finder. Rather than having one eye "locked" to the viewfinder, a shooter can achieve critical focus from as far away as 36" from the camera! Both eyes can be used to frame/focus and there is no need to remove eye-glasses. Unlike typical viewfinders, you might look at Cyclops as an alternative to a monitor as a director and shooter can view images at the same time while using Cyclops! Future proofing is achieved by using interchangeable front/rear hood elements.

This Cyclops Kit includes a "perfect-fit" riser plate to ensure accurate camera positioning with a wide variety of HDSLRs.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Hi. First off thanks for the quick answer section on your website. Will the Cinevate Cyclops DSLR Viewfinder attach to a Canon 5D Camera? Why did you pick this particular viewfinder and are you completely satisfied with it?
LINDA R  I am not completely satisfied but probably more with how the camera performs rather than the Cyclops. When you have the Cyclops on you will need to be live view for stills, because you cannot see in your viewfinder as the Cyclops gets in the way. When in live view the camera shoots much slower. If you are thinking of going back and forth between still and video, as I was, you will probably be disappointed with being in live view for stills. That really doesn't take away from the Cyclops which magnifies and covers the LCD so that you can see in bright light much better. I do not know for sure if the Cyclops will work on your specific camera, but I would think so. The viewfinder is adjustable up and down for a 3" LCD. I use it on a Nikon D7000 and have it set up with Manfrotto slide for easy on and off the tripod. When I bought the Cyclops it was at the $479 price with a $50 rebate. I received by rebate check but my bank will not cash it because of the Canadian exchange. I tried getting iinfo from Cinevate about this issue and they failed to respond, at all. Hope those considerations help you. Looks like Adorama has a good price.
