The holder incorporates a pin at the top that holds the camera ring in-place. Unless one is careful, this pin can scratch the filter upon insertion/extraction. The Lee foundation kit is both safer and holds the filters more securely.

Questions about this item:

jo w  I am terribly confused or not reading things correctly but what is the thread on this kit? My smallest lens is 58 and my largest is 92, but more likely I would use it on my 77 . plse let me know what is the best way to go with these kits. thanks
Andrew R  Cokin Z series (and P series and A series too) are square/rectangular filters designed to fit in the appropriate sized holder (this kit includes a holder). In addition, you'll need to purchase the appropriate adapter for your lens(es). A selection of adapters may be found here: http://www.adorama.com/CKPKZ.html#accessories
jo w  Thanks for your response but I am wondering what size exactly is the holder? does the holder NOT screw on to the end of the lens? Thanks.
