This light source is versatile. It is the right length to light a person or 2. It can be used: 1) with both baffles in as a general fill to complement a large box or umbrella key light, 2) with the grid on as a narrow strip main light or overhead and 3) with the front screen off as a dramatic main light or fill. The Chimera's are better built than other brands and a world standard, available anywhere. Spare parts are easily obtainable. You can even get a variety of diffusion strengths for front screens. They adapt to any light unit. I like the white interior…just a preference. One of my favorite techniques is to use it in the field with a Ranger Quadra head: I dial the exposure in about 1/2 to 1/3 stop under and then kiss the subject with the strip box anchored by a human based light stand with the front screen off but the grid on. This creates a very natural looking image where the subject benefits from the fill properties of the flash and stands out just a bit. Note: if you are going to use this with a Quadra head get the Chimera Quadra head adapter - do not use the regular Chimera to Elinchrom speed ring attached via an Elinchrom Quadra head adapter fitting.
