Celestron Advanced VX EQ Mount: Engineered from the ground up with astroimaging in mind, the new Advanced VX series from Celestron sets a new standard in mid-level telescopes. Advanced VX provides you with many of the features found on Celestron's most sophisticated German equatorial mounts, at an extremely affordable price.

The new Advanced VX mount was specifically designed to provide optimum imaging performance for smaller telescopes. Now your smaller telescope can take advantage of All-Star Polar Alignment and autoguider support. You'll be able to track through long exposures using permanently programmable periodic error correction. Image across the meridian without doing a meridian flip, so you can seamlessly image the best part of night sky. Advanced VX features significantly larger base castings than our previous design, improving stability under heavier loads. Improved motors offer more torque and can handle slight load imbalances with ease.

Experienced imagers will love taking this portable mount to a dark sky site, with all the performance of their larger observatory mount. Or, if you're new to imaging, this mount will help you get started with the hobby and keep up with your needs for years to come.

Stopped working after 1 use

By

from Yuba City CA  -  Casual/ Recreational

Got this scope for Christmas then had to wait for a clear night. Took some good pics of Orion's nebula and it seemed to work fine. Tried again the next night and the motors wouldn't work. I am using the AC adapted that is made for this mount. Hopefully I can return it.

Celestron Advanced VX Great Compromise

By

from San Tan Valley, Az  -  Casual/ Recreational

Bought this mount from Adorama to replace my Nexstar 8SE mount. Recently got deeper into astrophotography and needed an Equatorial Mount. Mount however needed to be somewhat mobile. The Nexstar mount was very mobile, but too light for vibration and of course it was an altazimuth mount. It was good for planetary shots but really not for deep space. In comes the Advanced VX. It's mount and weights are much heavier than the Nexstar but not as heavy as the larger equitorial Celestron or other manufacturers mounts and it does not break the bank. Will need to do more trips when setting up at a remote site. So far it tracks well, but it is summertime here in the Phoenix area and too hot to do much at night. One thing I do know is that the Vibrations along with the Celestron pads is almost non-existent. I certainly will know more in a couple of months when the temps drop. For now though, it is a great "Compromise" mount that offers mobility, tracking stability and a fair price.

Great Mount so far

By

from Gainesville, GA  -  Casual/ Recreational

My use is in Astrophotography and although buying this at the wrong time of the year it has worked out great. The mount is very strong for the weight and has been used both in a piggy back configuration with a DSLR (200mm and a 500mm prime lenses) as well as using the Celestron 6in SCT with the DSLR in Prime vibration and tracking has been great. I love the record function capability on the periodic error this allows correction so general wide view tracking has not been a requirement. I will still plan to use tracking for solar system and higher magnification deep space photography. One thing to keep in mind is although the manual states that a level is built into the mount there is none. So you will need a level for setup.

Solid, well-constructed mount

By

from Litchfield CT  -  Casual/ Recreational

This mount replaces an older LXD-750 mount that I used for many years. The VX is well-constructed and carries my C-11 or Televue-85 plus guidescopes and guiders/cameras well. I am very pleased with it as a larger portable mount.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I have a Celestron Nexstar 102GT, Mod 22093. Will this mount work and do I need any additional parts? Thanks, Cliff D
CHRISTOPHER K  This mount will work. And you will need additional parts. You will need a losmandy (D-style) plate to fit the mounts attachment clamp and tube rings that attach to the plate to hold your telescope. If you measure the tube diameter, you can find the size of rings you will need. Also, search google for "alpine astro nexstar mount."
Roger T  does this mount come with the dove tail part that mounts to the tube of the 8in. SCT?
FRED T  Received this product in a timely manner. Delivery was faster than expected. Haven't used it yet as I am still in process of building a deck to house the telescope. The assembly of this mount was quick and simple. All of the parts were quickly available. Fit and finish were outstanding. When I put the mount in use I'll submit another review.
phil b= L  What is the weight that it will carry. I have a 23 lb 8 in astrotec?
KYLE G  They rate it for 30 pounds so it will probably carry it fine for visual but I wouldn't put more than 20 pounds on it for imaging.
