Wow; fantastic; awesome

By

from near Memphis, Tennessee  -  Casual/ Recreational

Gave myself one after retiring after 46 years in Psychology. I've had two previous scopes and wanted a good one with clear optics and a steady mount. Did I ever luck out!! The mount is a "hoss" and I wouldn't want to run into it with a Hummer (for the sake of the Hummer). It is HEAVY, but I need the exercise. The optics are crisp and the views are magnificent. The GoTo feature is a very useful tool and easy to align.

Happy as a clam

By

from Monument, CO  -  Avid Adventurer

Having this in my observatory has meant that I spend much more time looking AT instead of looking FOR. Optics are spot on and I have cranked it to the 60X/in on one occasion. It IS heavy and and you would want a JMI wheeled case to travel with it. It points well, even with a one object align. Two is better and three...Only regret is I didn't get one sooner to replace my 10" newtonian.

super scope

By

from S.W. CT

Very easy to set up and use, esp. for a scope of this size. Cords wrapping and binding around tripod is a problem; could be eliminated if jacks were placed differently.Great optics and "bang for the buck"[...]

Questions about this item:

Billy F  I have a brand new cpc 1100 and can't get the GPS to work?????? what should I try????
Scott B  My first answer would be to contact Celestron's tech support directly at (800) 421-9649. Let me know if they cannot help your issues.
Shopper  Will this telescope be that much better than the 8 in cpc?
Scott B  it will see fainter objects, however the unit is much heavier.
Shopper  How hard is this telescope to set up.And is it too heavy to move around.?
Scott B  It weighs 123 lbs. If you can build an Ikea table and boot up a new computer, this should be fairly easy to set up.
