Great accessory for my 8 SE

I purchased this for use with my Celestron 8 SE SCT. Works great. Once you change the settings on the scope to use the gps and go into your alignment, it readily pulls up the gps coordinates and time. This allows for a more accurate alignment. I have used this three times since it arrived this past week, and I really enjoy using it.

Highly Recommended GPS Receiver

By

from PR

This receiver fits very well into my Celestron Telescope mount. It is very accurate and doesn't take too long to lock into the satellites and download Date, Time, and Position information for precise operation of the GoTo System. Very convenient. It can be used with a variety of Celestron mounts. Some people say get a good eyepiece instead, but I say this will get you up and observing in no time. The RS232 connectors are delicate. Celestron should have moved to USB interface long time ago. If you travel with your telescope often, you will really appreciate the SkySync.

Costly but BOSSly!

By

Once I got started buying my wife her telescope it seemed there was more to buy to get a great experience. It started with lenses and filters and moved on to this. The piece de resistance so to speak, this is the gem of her new collection. Go anywhere in the world and get lined up immediately! We were having problems with the telescopes computerized alignment system but this solved them all. It enters the time, and longitude and latitude. It has been very helpful to us and helps us get the most out of the scope.

Questions about this item:

Paul W  Will this work with an Orion Atlas EQ-G? Does this plug into the Synscan control?
Gary Z  Hello Paul, the Celestron Web Site discusses compatibility for this item. Essentially, it is for Celestron telescopes. However, there is another wifi product out there and can be found on the Orion Web Site. Additionally, the company that makes this module, Southern Stars, provide even more information. This product, the Skyfi wireless module will work with the Atlas Mount according to the Web Site. Sorry, I cannot include web links in this response.
Newt D  Is the gps powered by internal batteries?
DAVID B  It has no internal batteries. It is powered by plugging the gps unit into the celestron mount, and then plugging the hand controller into the gps unit. It works without any problems on my Celestron Advanced GT mount. If you have questions, please contact Celestron for help. They are very helpful.
