Comprehensive IEEE1394a cables, commonly referred to as "Firewire" cables provide high speed digital transmission of data, video and audio between computers and consumer devices such as scanners, printers, DV camcorders, external hard drives and more.

IEEE 1394 firewire cables provide data speeds 100,200 or 400 Mbps (megabytes per second). Firewire cables commonly come in three pin configurations; 4 to 4, 6 to 4, or 6 to 6. (There is also a 9 pin version used by Firewire 800 1394b cables.) Use the 4 pin cable for non-powered devices and the 6 pin cable for to provide power to devices.
