I bought this for the BosStrap I already own. I wanted something to disconnect from my strap for more freedom of use.

Exactly What I Needed!
Did exactly what I wanted, connected my Black Rapid without using tripod mount. The metal ring did touch my 3rd party grip (Nikon D5100) but not the camera. I rubber coated both the ring and caribiner from teh BR Strap! All is good!

Little gadget that works well
This little gadget is great to offset my BlackRapid strap from using the tripod bolt. I now strap this to my battery grip and use the clip to the BlackRapid strap to hook onto it. It makes it easy to keep my tripod mounting plate on at all times.

I Love It!
Where should I start? This is a great camera strap. I opened the box, slipped it over my shoulder, did a quick adjustment, and I was good to go. The strap comes with a well build tripod hole mounting connector, but, while there should not be any issues associated with hanging your camera from a tripod mount, I choice to use the "BosStrap Extra BosTail" (Available on Adorama) to connect the strap to my left camera strap lug. The BosTail is well built and it puts the camera exactly where I want it. (Look for my review of the BosTail).
Now back to the Black Rapid Strap. As you can tell I think it is an excellent strap which allows me to position the camera (Nikon D3100) exactly where I want it, and bring it rapidly to a shooting position. The strap has two sliding buckles which allow you to "lock" it in position anywhere from the front of your shoulder to the back of your shoulder. When walking, I position the back buckle right about the level of the back of my pants belt and, depending on whether or not I am taking shots, I position the front buckle either right about the level of the front of my pants belt, securing it at my hip, or I lock the front buckle near the shoulder pad which allows rapid lifting of my camera. The front buckle operates very quickly, allowing you to flip it open and slide your camera up to shooting position or lock it at your hip.
When walking through brush or where the camera may strike objects, I lock the back buckle around the middle of my back, slide my camera behind me, and lock the front buckle on the other side of the camera. This is more comfortable than it sounds, but the camera stays totally out of the way.
The Black Rapid Strap is well build, comfortable, uses high quality materials, and has understated beauty.

Exactly what I needed.
Sometimes the simple things are the best. I purchased this to use with the BlackRapid [camera] Strap RS7 I also purchased from Adorama. The BlackRapid straps use the tripod screw hole to attach to the camera, and while many said there would be no problem, I felt it would be better to attach the strap to one of the two camera strap lugs. Very simple in design, the BosStrap Extra BosTail attaches like a normal camera strap and provides a very strong ring, tightly woven into a two to four inch (adjustable) strap. I have full confidence in this product, and you should too.
