I use this product for anyghing one would have used a regular screw in cable release for with a film camera. It's great for night photography, it can be operated in complete darkness with gloves on. It has that lock that you need for time exposures and painting with light etc. It also does not have batteries like the over-priced nikon version which increases reliability in winter and ease of use. It does not beep but you can just listen to the ticking of an analog watch for the number of seconds you are timing out. This is the best designed most and reasonably priced product of its type.
