Good price poor performance

First generic purchase for Nikon D300. Convenient to use, good range but disappointed in quality. Battery unit is bulky wire sometimes flopped in way of shots. Broke off in camera only used a couple times. Had to replace battery right away.

So far so good.

I've read a lot of mixed reviews on RF units so I was a little nervous but it has worked perfectly so far. When testing distance I put the camera on my deck and walked out in my yard snapping pics. It would consistantly work out to about 30 YARDS in line of sight with new batteries. I have a shed with windows about 10 yards from the deck and it worked when I stood in the shed with the door open. It works every time in my house. Even when I'm in the next room as long as I point the trigger towards the doorway. I've used it at church functions to take candids and it's worked every time. I've taken it hiking in the mountains and used it for slow shutter speeds for water falls (standing right beside the camera). I'll admit that actual use is light. Maybe 300-400 snaps and I am very careful with all my equipment so I can't vouch for durability yet. It is rather flimsy looking. I still have the same batteries I started with. It comes with a couple of stick-on mounts. I stuck one to the side of my flash so when it is mounted on the hot shoe I slide the reciever in the stick-on mount on the side of the flash. Maybe it's the luck of the draw but me and my D200 have been very pleased.

Great for a reasonable price

I have a Nikon MC-36 that I use with my Nikon D200, but it tethers me to the camera with its three foot cord. The little wireless release allows me to be wherever I want to trip the shutter

About Adorama 08RFSM606 Wireless/Wired Release for Nikon

This Wireless RF (Radio Frequency) Shutter Release Kit enables you to release the shutter in both wireless and wired modes. The system produces a coded radio signal that works indoors, outdoors, around corners even through walls. It has an effective working range of up to 100 ft. RF Kit also provides 16 multi-coded channels, giving the photographer plenty of combinations to work with, without jamming the frequency.

To use the RF kit wireless, simply attach the receiver to the camera, then use the transmitter to trigger the shutter release.

Using the RF kit wired is easily done by attaching the receiver onto the camera, then press the shutter release button located on the receiver. The cord on the receiver is approx. 3ft in length, allowing for ample mobility for photographer positioning. In both wired and wireless modes, press the shutter release halfway to activate auto focus (Red LED indicator will come on to confirm on receiver), then press button fully to take a picture.
