The case is perfect.  When you pay this much money for a toy you want it protected in transit.  Not too heavy to throw over your back.  This is a great addition to a new hobby.

It's great for storage to keep all the goodies out of harm's way and for travel or hiking in for short distances.  For serious hikes you have no room for hiking essentials.  Furthermore there is no place to pack an iPad.
