About this item

Blue Crane's "Introduction to the Nikon D90" and inBrief Guide - If you have just purchased your D90, the controls on the outside of the camera, coupled with all the menus and custom settings, can be downright overwhelming. Blue Crane gives you a structure for looking at the controls, as well as a repeatable ritual for taking great photos with your camera. You spent a bundle on this camera, let it be an extension of your hands rather than a struggle.

The Nikon D90 is a powerful piece of equipment. A solid understanding of its features and controls can really unleash its potential. Once you learn how the camera's components work together, you'll have all the tools you need to capture the best image under all conditions.

All you need to take great pictures is this training DVD and about 2 hrs & you'll have the knowledge & confidence to create the images you want. The topics are arranged in chapters, so you can move at your own pace & return later to individual subjects.

This item also comes with an inBrief Guide. Your camera manual covers all the functions on your new digital camera, but it's also over one hundred pages long. When you are in the field, you need quick and accurate answers to achieve the best shot. Blue Crane developed the inBrief line of camera guides so you can get the answers quickly and more importantly, the shot you want.

Each card is divided into eight color-coded panels. If you have a question about metering or bracketing, simply look at the yellow panel. Questions about custom functions are answered on the green panel. The layout and description for the control panel and view finder can be found on the blue panel. And a color-coded index on the front page immediately points you toward the answer you need.

The inBrief guide is laminated for long life & protection from the elements. As importantly, the panels are separated by thin strips of clear lamination, allowing the card to be folded easily & stored in your camera bag.

Your inBrief guide won't be a replacement for your manual, but it will remind you what functions are available and how you can get them to work for you.

Every inBrief guide includes a line drawing of your camera with the controls for shooting, displaying images and general operation clearly labeled. It also has a panel that shows you, at a glance, the camera functions available for each mode dial setting, as well as a cross reference to flash sync modes.

So quit fumbling with the controls & take control of your camera & the images you want to capture. Blue Crane will give you the answers inBrief.

The Nikon D90 is a powerful piece of equipment. A solid understanding of its features and controls can really unleash its potential. Once you learn how the camera's components work together, you'll have all the tools you need to capture the best image under all conditions. This DVD is intended for photographers moving up to a Digital SLR from a Point and Shoot camera, or new D90 owners that would like a basic introduction to the camera and an overview of the most important controls. Also look for volume 2, which covers more advanced topics.

Take great pictures with your Nikon D90! All you need is this training DVD and about an hour, and you'll have the knowledge and the confidence to create the images you want. The topics are arranged in chapters, so you can move at your own pace, and return later to individual subjects.

Blue Cranes approach to this DVD is to explore how the advanced settings can be used in real world situations, and how they influence the final image.

This DVD is not for novice photographers. It assumes you have a working knowledge of digital photography and the controls on your camera. As an example, our section on color management is not a step by step process of how to calibrate your equipment, but a real world discussion of the major stumbling blocks you are likely to encounter as your image moves from the camera through your editing software, and on to a printer, a magazine, or the web. Marc Aguilera tours around the world speaking on color management. We are indeed fortunate that Marc took the time to give us this introduction.

We cover difficult lighting situations you are likely to encounter. This DVD covers how settings like exposure compensation, physical filters on your Speedlight, and advanced white balance settings on your camera can enhance or detract from the final image, but also steps you can take to give your image the best chance of being great.

In our section on Commander Mode with wireless remote speedlights we give you examples of using your camera controls to get great shots. In discussing the Creative Lighting System, we give you an approach you can replicate, then modify as you introduce speedlights and diffusers into your creative bag of tricks.

Think of this DVD as a call to action. Watch a section, then shoot, shoot, shoot. The technical information on the DVD, along with your active participation should take your photography to new heights. This DVD assumes the viewer has a good overall understanding of digital photography
