Elinchrom Features

  • Built-In Skyport Triggering: The built-in Skyport Speed receiver provides wireless triggering of up to four groups and four channels.
  • Eye-Cell Technology: When using D-Lite ITs in optical slave mode with cameras, or shoe-mount flashes with a pre-flash, users can program the number of pre-flashes or have the head automatically program itself--a great way of mixing lights.
  • Proportional Modeling Light Setup: Power adjustments are made in 1/10th stop increments. The modeling lamp can be controlled proportionately, set to minimum or maximum level, or switched off.
  • Power Steps: Output can be modified in 1/10 increments.
  • Thermally Controlled Fan Management: The cooling fan is controlled by a microprocessor and switches on automatically when the internal temperature increases.
  • New Stand Mount: The new, more robust stand mount also adds a universal umbrella mount, like all other Elinchrom heads--the mount can accept umbrellas with shafts of 8 or 9mm.

Great kit

By

I enjoy mine. I run my lights off an UPS (uninteruptable power supply) an extention cord. The lights are easy to set up and take down. They suit me well. I am purchasing umbrellas for mine to increase the potential uses. Nothing bad to say except it came with two lights and one reflector. Not sure why... Worth the purchase.

effectively affordable

By

the D-lite system packs a punch for the price. In comparison with similar power packages the price is affordable for a student like me. Unfortunately it seems to come at a price. The optical sensor is very glitchy with the pre-flash even though I DID configure it properly to sync with my camera. After 2 hours of shooting I did have issue with the light starting to turn off and then back on by itself, maybe was overheating despite the built-in fans. other than that it's ok stamina-wise. I've also had issue getting error warnings from the system when I turn it up to max. Other than the glitchy-ness I'm happy with it. Recommended for students like me and casual photograpgers, but definitely not for a pro and would recommend something more robust for a semi-pro.

I use this in a small studio at home. It's great for portraits, small groups, etc. Probably not the most powerful you can get, but it's more than enough for a small studio. Love the wireless system....works easily with no hassal!

Nice package, compact and light

By

from Huntington Beach, CA  -  Photo Enthusiast

Just started using the Elinchrom lights. So far so good. Nice and lightweight package. Softboxes take a few minutes to set up after you get used to them. Would have liked the package to include larger softboxes or a larger umbrella, but easy enough to buy more of what I need anyway. The remote that is included is a huge bonus. I used the system at a family Xmas party the other night for portraits and everyone was very impressed. Posted the pics on Shutterfly for all guests to enjoy or order. The light is nice and repeatable with good color fidelity and balance.

Excellent Product

By

from Dallas,TX.  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Shoot a lot of low light, fashion and editorial images - the set is great. I needed something professional yet didn't want to break the bank. I researched for about a month and a half and after considering the Alien Bees and the Photoflex Kits, I arrived on the Elinchrom. I am quite happy with the purchase.

Good lighting for semi-pro and pro-photo

By

from Rockville Maryland  -  Pro Photographer

This is the best product I have bought to enhance my portraits photography. The lights are very light in terms of weight and make carrying to location very easy. Although I have only use the lights once, I truly enjoy the results. The operating manual is poor, and the video only shows how to use one light but fail to show a first time user how to properly install the equipments. Some lighting knowledge is required to properly set up the lights and use them to get reasonable results. Overall, the lights are excellent and they produce good results provided you have some basic lighting techniques otherwise the operating manual and the videos are not quite useful for a novice.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
STEVE W  I wanted compact lights I could take on-site.
Shopper  Will these work with Skyport speed Transmitter?
ANATOLIY V  I have Skyport Universal Speed transmitter and the monolight does work with it in both (speed & non-speed ) modes. Use channel 1, group 1 on your transmitter. You should change settings on the unit (monolight) for speed mode.
Shopper  Can you connect this to a pocket wizard???
ROB A  Yes, you will need two pocket wizards. One on camera as the transmitter and one attached to the light kit with a cord, set up as a receiver.
