Flashpoint Camera "Flip" Flash Bracket

By

from Maryland  -  Photo Enthusiast

Intend to use periodically when external flash head is required. It works as designed and would be even better if not for the negative comment below given my current camera and usual set-up. My preferred setup is my Nikon D300s with the accessory Nikon motor drive attached since the additional controls allow for more comfortable shooting posture when shooting portrait vice landscape captures. Problem being, with the motor drive attached, the framework of the bracket assembly interferes with the flash connector for flash cord utilization on the top of the camera when flipped for portrait captures.

Pretty good, great deal!

By

This was the first bracket I have ever bought. I was looking for a bracket to use when I shoot weddings and other events to get rid of harsh shadows from my flash being turned with the camera. I was not looking to spend a whole lot of money, but wanted something that would work well. I have only shot one wedding with this bracket so far and for the most part I was pleased with how well it worked. It is pretty easy to switch from vertical to horizontal and the normal harsh shadows I usually get were nowhere to be seen! My only complaint would be the mount for the camera...it would not screw in super-tight so the camera would shift a little from time to time. Also, make sure your camera and flash have remote capabilites, otherwise you will need an off-camera flash cord in order for your flash to go off. All-in-all, it is a great deal and I think it is a great bracket to start out with until I can afford a custom one!

It works, but too awkward for me

By

from USA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I wanted to use this to raise the flash off the camera, and this does the trick. But it's heavy, and it makes it too hard for me to hold the camera in a stable fashion.

Gets the job done.

I fortunately don't shoot a lot of "running gun" projects like weddings, but when I have to, this thing fills the niche for getting strobe reflection up out of people's glasses for a very reasonable price. If I was doing weddings full time, I'd opt for something a lot sturdier and easier to use in a horizontal and vertical positions.

I was looking for my first flip bracket to use, and did alot of research on bracket available on the market. Decided on this one, and don't regret it at all. it was an excellent price for the quality of the product. it's very durable, and comfortable to hold.

Does the Job

Used for a wedding & worked fine. Not perfect but does what I expected. Luckily, I was able to pick it up in person @ retail store & check it out as 1st box was missing the attachment screw & next one the screw was too long & my camera wouldn't attach securely. But next 1 was fine. Used with a Nikon F-100 & a Vivitar 283 with 3 foot sync cord as the 1 foot cord can work but is cutting it a bit close. Doesn't stand securely if you put it down so be careful. Can't comment on the durability as I've only used it once but so far so good. Reasonably priced compared to other brackets.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ANDREW N  easy to use, works great, eliminates red eye.
Shopper  How do you attach a Nikon SC 28 or 29 to this unit? The mounting screw is not long enough
RAYMOND L  It fits to any camera. My EOS 5D my Nikon Coolpix P7000 and even my small Canon SX210 all of them fits in it. I can mount also to my Beike tripod. It is strong enough to hold big camera like my EOS 5d
Shopper  If I use this with my Nikon D800 and Nikon SB600 Flash will I need a flash cord also?
EUGENE L  Yes you will need to purchase an off camera flash cord to use with this bracket.
