SWEET!!!! Strobists will love this!

I use this on my SB-800 to get some great, dramatic lighting. Its sturdy and doesn't take up much room in my camera bag.

A good idea that needs refinement

The product is useful when a spot light is needed. Unfortunately its design makes it rather cumbersome to install as it requires a pricey Velcro strap that must be purchased separately. The overall design is somewhat unprofessional in appearance.

Quick on off

By

This is great if you already have speedlight accessories that use the velcro straps. Sure there are better grids but this one is easy on/off to swap modifiers. My only complaint is due to the shape it doesnt appear to hold on very tightly, in practice it is so light weight that it doesnt need to, so its not really an issue.

Good product, easy to use

By

Main use so far is to use as a back light. Used to stop shadows on back drop when shooting portraits. Also, used to high light hair and subject from back.

incredible system

An entire system of affordable, compact, light modifiers. Essential for todays wireless flash systems and general use. Studio level light control on location...Get McNally's book and this system and it will change your life!

How Did I Shoot Portraits Without This?

By

Used exclusively off camera for portraits and environmental portraits with Nikon SB800 and assorted other reflectors. Allows great control of light so only the necessary portions are lit. Easy to add drama, and easy to adjust.

this ain't a waste of money

By

I was reluctant to "waste" money on the Honl honeycomb grids cause they are easy to DIY. But the diy's don't last very long and you have no consistency from one grid to the other... These grids are not a waste of money.

Great for studio portraits.

By

It is a device for controlling an area of light, say behind a subject in a portrait--which is how I use it. Its effective and therefore useful to own for anyone shooting studio portraits. I attached mine to Nikon Sb-600 or SB-800 speedlights.

RICHARD B  Anyone know approximately how many stops this grid takes out?
SEAN M  Zero. It's not actually impeding the light, it is merely preventing spill-off. The spot of light will be small, but it will be just as powerful as the flash can provide.
