About Fantasea

The Nano Flash is perfect for all digital Aim and Shoot cameras including those with the "Pre Flash" function. The "Nano" is an ultra compact digital slave strobe and underwater protective housing kit. The strobe unit triggers in sync with the digital camera's internal flash by a small light sensor in the strobe body.

Simple operation, good performance and small size make the "Nano" a must have accessory for underwater digital camera imaging, or for anyone who needs waterproof strobe protection for wet outdoor sports and severe environments. Furthermore, the strobe can be removed from the housing and used as a land strobe in dry conditions.

Fantasea Features

  • Guide number 12 (Air, ISO 100 x 1 meter. At one foot, the guide number is 39).
  • Uses two lightweight AAA batteries.
  • Depth rated to 40m/130 feet.
  • Features 3 flash modes to suit a wide variety of digital cameras. Whether your camera is capable of Manual mode, or has one or two pre-flashes to set exposure, the Nano Flash ensures correct exposure with all such camera types.
  • Fiber Optic Cable can be separately ordered.

Questions about this item:

ron c  Can this flash be used with a camera housing with not flash connection like the canon a3300?
Andrew R  This flash unit relies on an optically triggered slave and has no electrical connection to a camera. As such it should work with nearly any camera, however the housing itself may not be compatible with certain mounts/housings.
ron c  Thanks, That is good. I think by adding an arm that is available, I think it can be attached to the camera mounting screw. I am purchasing the Ikelite housing for the a3300.
Shopper  Do you have any suggestions or tips on using it?
Brenda C  I just bought a Sea & Sea 1200 camera with matching underwater housing. It came with the Nano Slave Strobe. We have the Velcro pieces, but the regular YS-110 strobe. Any suggestions on where to place the Velcro strip on the housing, as there really isn't enough room. we are considering putting the white sensor of the nano slave strobe on the YS-110 strobe defuser face. Any thoughts?
Shopper  how do you attach the fiber optic cable connection to the water proof camera housing?
Andrew R  i. The fiber optic cable consists of two ends: One is attached to a white plastic fitting (flat white plastic at the end of the cable with Allen screw inside), and the other is loose. Insert the exposed end of the fiber optic cable (the end without the fitting) into the small hole of the black Nano Adaptor unit, starting from the end that features a screw and pushing it towards the end that features an O-ring, until the fiber optic cable reaches the end of the adaptor. ii. Use the tool included in the Nano Adaptor Kit in order to tighten the screw on the adaptor. Tighten it enough to stabilize the fiber optic cable inside the adaptor, but don't tighten it too strongly. Tightening the screw too much might damage the fiber optic cable. iii. Install the black and clear plastic diffuser cover on the Nano Flash Housing. iv. Insert the Nano Adaptor inside the lower right grommet (the one with the wider hole) of the black diffuser cover, so that the adaptor screw doesn't get in its way. Insert it all the way to the end, and do not use force once you encounter any resistance ). v. If attaching the Fiber Optic Cable to a Fantasea FP7000 Housing or any other housing that features a dedicated fiber optic cable attachment configuration, please refer the housing instruction manual for specific instructions regarding attaching the fiber optic cable to the camera housing. If attaching the Fiber Optic Cable to any other standard camera housing, please follow the instructions below. vi. The other end of the fiber optic cable attaches outside of the camera housing opposite the camera internal flash by using both sides of the Velcro strip included in the kit. The white plastic fitting normally comes with the Velcro tape attached and therefore you are only required to apply the other side of the Velcro strip on the housing to receive it. If your housing features a built-in flash diffuser, the Velcro strip should be attached beneath it, directly to the housing.
