Works fine on semi cloudy and cloudy days. The tonal range is not the best on bright sunny days. Grain is sharp, but beyond 8" x 10" it starts to become too noticeable. No worry on very warm days about keeping it cool, which is reguired by the "professional" slide films

I have been using this film for a long time because its versatility more than meets my needs.

Sensia 400 ISO slide film is a fine example of how much better film is vs older examples. Color balance and accuracy are very good and there is little grain. With a fast lens hand-held shots in very low light are done with ease.

Back in my younger days I used to buy E-6 kits and do my own processing. Ektachrome always looked green in the shadows; Fujichrome fared much better. While Ektachrome looks excellent when processed by Kodak, I never was able to get the hang of E-6 processing. I tried tap water, distilled water, and distilled deionized water. Nothing helped. I switched to Fujichrome (mostly Sensia 400) for about the last 15 years and have been generally pleased with the results. The characteristics of Sensia 400 become apparent when compared to Velvia 100. The latter is much more saturated and has much higher contrast. While Velvia 100 slides look fantastic when projected, I suspect that they would be more difficult to scan with an inexpensive scanner like a Prime Film. Velvia 100 also appears much sharper than Sensia 400, but the sharpness will probably be lost once the image is scanned and loaded onto a DVD for home viewing on a regular (non-hd) tv.

A High-Speed Film for Action or Low Light, Superior Image Quality, Super-Fine Sigma Crystal Technology
The excellent image quality of this 400-speed Film makes it the obvious choice for sports action photography, low-light situations, or astrophotography. It also works wonderfully with telephoto lenses and compact cameras.
