Worked but with additional help

My polarizer was stucked on an UV filter. Ordered the kit and tries. It did not work. Out of desperation, I put both filters in -20 C freezer. After a while, the filters were separated easily. In the future, I will try the freezing method.

Has the manufacturing of this product changed since others reviewed it? What I received was made of plastic so thin, flimsy, and light that it was unusable for getting my filter unstuck. I know we are all skeptical when we see that one sour grapes review in the lot, but I promise you that I know what I am doing, and this is a fair review of the items I received. If you have a stuck filter, look elsewhere, this item will not work. Fortunately I am a home machinist, and will just fabricate my own solution, but surely someone makes a wrench that isn't so flimsy that it will just fold up in your hand when you try to loosen a stuck filter with it?

Did the job

By

I needed these to get two filters screwed together apart. One was a polarizing filter so the gripping area for it was quite small. It took a bit of work to get the wrench on that filter on the right spot but once done, it worked fine. Because they are thin the wrenches do have a tendency to bend and twist so you have to be careful when using them to hold them steady.

It helps

With some work I was able to get my polarizer and neutral density filter unscrewed from each other. They had been stuck for several months and I was unable to use them separately - so I was very thankful to find this product. The wrench is just a little weak - in fact I think I cracked one of them while attempting to unscrew the filters. I am a little concerned about the grip scraping the filters sides while unscrewing filters-they don't grab like rubber would. However, they serve the purpose and I just know to be a little careful when using them.

I just used a rubber band and this wrench and got the filter off.

Very useful for removing filters that are stuck. They are tricky to use and very fragile, but for the price just get a few for insurance

Does what it's meant to do

By

Handy, inexpensive piece of gear that's indispensable when needed. Very useful for polarizing and ND filters when fingers just won't work. Took one star off only because plastic seems flimsy (although there are two in the package) and will probably break over time.

I had 2 filters that get stuck together when the camera was knocked off a chair. The top one was damaged but the bottom one was undamaged. The top one did not cost much but the bottome one cost me a pretty sum. I was delighted that these where able to get them unstuck. You need two to do this job.

Useful When Needed

These are great to have when you cannot get two filters separated with your fingers. They are thin plastic type material, but inexpensive to replace if they break. If you need them in the field they are priceless.
