Just what I needed!

I wanted to add some more power to my outdoor shooting, a little more than Speedlites, but was not about to put down the money for Qflash Trio's, etc. This is the perfect middle option, at a MUCH more affordable price. Power packs are extremely portable and not too heavy, the entire system of two flash heads, modifiers, batteries, and stands can easily fit in a car trunk and go anywhere! Completely useable for indoor studio use as well, love the option of beep or no beep, good recycle times (...

Have not used the optical slave outdoors, but I don't expect it to work miracles. Completely worth the money, I'm not surprised they are back-ordered!

Flashpoint 320M vs Flashpoint400W Batter

By

from Miami, Florida  -  Semi-pro Photographer

The duality of the Flashpoint 320M is the key. Sturdy construction and who doesn't want to be able to use this Monolight with A/C power and D/C power and the ease that the switch from one to the other is done. VS the Flashpoint 400w Battery operated model that only runs in the rechargeble battery.

Can't Beat the Price

By

from Saginaw, MI  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I've used a lot of strobes from different companies. You can't beat the price and portability of this package. Flash works great indoors and out. I have never run the battery pack out even in a 3 hour outdoor photo shoot. Only con is the placement of the slave receiver. I forgot my wireless transmitter for a photo shoot. Because the slave receiver on the flash is located on the top I wasn't able to place the flash where I wanted because it would not fire. For the low price I can overlook this minor issue.

Good Value for Monolights

By

from Los Angeles, Ca.  -  Pro Photographer

[...]I wanted to followup with a more hands on assessment of the product. I did setup them up and to use. I found out quickly that I needed another receiver to trigger the second monolight. Not sure why that is. I cash down for another trigger. It worked fine. As I previously noted I was concern about the complaints about the battery life and other issues. So far no battery problems. I have the 320M wedding kit. I am thinking now perhaps the 620M would have been a better choice. The 150WS is good, but having more power is best. Of course its a lot easier to dial it down a bit, then to need more power and not have it. I have yet needed to charge the batteries. I have a green light so I am using them. I am going to charge them for this weekends wedding gig. Still not sure how to charge them since I don't have a red light indicating low power. The battery instructions are a bit confusing. It should not be a problem. Its a battery you plug it in with the charger and wait...The recent job I did when them turn out fine. I shot in full daylight with the sun moving around me. That is why portability is essential. Some of the shots looked like studio work. I would have liked them to throw in the "barndoors" and to have a better fit for the umbrellas. They sit into the monolight, but do not have a locking screw. So if you turn or move the umbrella up, the umbrella loses its place.BTW, I use P W's for my studio work, but this time I decided to use another cheaper brand. I ordered 2 receivers and 1 transmitter from CS. They were dirt cheap, but they work. Only problem with them is battery compartment on one is difficult to open and close. Cheaply made. I will need a screwdriver to pry it open for a fresh set of AAA batteries. And I had to use a hammer to tap it shut. FYI on that. Looking forward to at least 2 years use with these. Great price, great value overall. I would recommend them.

Great Product & Value

By

from Louisiana  -  Photo Enthusiast

I've own the Flashpoint II 320M and Flashpoint II 620M for about a year. They've worked flawlessly and are of "bulletproof" construction. I've used them primarily on location with the Flashpoint 4 Channel A/C Radio Remote (which I also recommend, SKU:FPRRS). The attached photos were taken with both monolights.

Works GREAT!

By

from North Dakota  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I've been looking at this and the bigger brother the 620M for a while. Most of my portrait shoots are on location and the need for something other than available lighting or a strobist appraoach was needed for some of my shots. This unit starts where my YN-460 II's drop off and allow me to get more creative with light, diffusion and technique.[...] I am so impressed with the 320M I have also ordered one of the 620M's to go with it. (Should probably have gotten the 620M in the first place, but oh well... This works GREAT!)

HIghly recommended

By

from Longmont, CO  -  Photo Enthusiast

Before buying this monolight, I already had two budget monolights, but needed one that operates with a DC pack. So I bought a 320M and this 620M with two battery power packs. These are perfect ! I have used these at one outdoor event and one on location shot indoors. The setup is very easy and the battery lasts very long. I took about 150 photos at each of the events and there was still juice left in the power packs. I used one 620M and one 320M with separate battery packs for each monolight. I was firing them at full power for the outdoor event (to overpower the Sun) and about 1/4 power at the indoor event. I am very happy with my purchase. This is an unbeatable value.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
CHARLES C  I wanted a light source I could use on location with out electric availability.
Shawn F  I own 4 of these lights and have always used the included Model Lamp bulb. I see these is rated for 100 watts. Would it be possible to use a CFL bulb in the same socket. I'd like to see if I could use this for a constant light instead? Has anyone ever tried this?
CHARLES C  Shawn F- That's a darn good question. I have never thought about that. If you find an answer please let me know too. I have just gotten these lights so I haven't had to replace any bulbs yet
Tyler L  Hey everyone, just curious about this light. i will be using it outdoors for action sports like motocross, so i want to know if it will be fast enough and bright enough for what i need? main uses will be during high noon, and sunset sessions.
CORNELL W  it will work to an extent, but you might be a bit limited. it reloads about instantly at lowest power, which is what i use since im indoors. your needs, it may be a little slow, reloading around 3 seconds at full power (my rough estimate anyway).
