I like this light - it stays cold and does not consume much power. The power cord is of decent length as well. Since we can turn individual amps on or off, this unit gives us control and flexibility.

Great value for the price. These lights are quite bright to the point that they may make some subjects uncomfortable. I bought these to use in step-and-repeat stations and they get the job done but the light fall-off was more rapid than expected. Storage is a challenge -- spent several days looking for the ideal plastic bin to store them both in and struck...everything was way bigger then required of just slightly too small on one end. I'll also end up using these for shooting art with cross polarization.

The lights work very nicely and over all I am very happy with them. One thing that happened to me was, I turned on two switches at the same time on the back of the light and the fuse in the light fixture blew. I found the spare fuse in the packing and replaced it. I have not done that again.

This light is being used for figure drawing and photography in a studio setting. There have been complaints that the color temperature is too cold so I have added a 1/2 CTO gel . but have not tested that yet.

At ISO 320, I expose 125 @ f5.6 no problems.

It could be improved by including a central hole and set screw to attach a translucent umbrella which would allow more adjustment to the diffusion. That might necessitate beefing up the mount a little. I would like to see Adormama/Flashpoint make one of these with a larger reflector for 105 Watt bulbs.

Rivals lighting systems costing more than three times as much, plus less bulky and lower operating cost. The perfect low-cost solution to good lighting. Could not be more pleased (except for that pesky power chord!).

Good value, I like Adorama's ( flashpoint ) gear. This light is ok for portraits if everyone is still but that's most continuous lighting, should work great when I get into video.

Nice units for the price. I bought 4 to use on a video shoot with a Canon EOS 5D. The color was great, but light output seems low. The design of the reflector combined with the placement of the bulbs do not do appear to add to the efficiency of the light output. They seemed to produce about half a stop more when I attached the included diffusers to the reflectors. [...] I replaced the bulb/tubes with Ottlites and that improved output a little. The units are very light weight and easy to set up on 5/8" receivers. There is no way to remove the reflectors and they're 16" in diameter making them more difficult to transport. I plan to buy a few more.

LED lights are becoming more affordable. If you're a still photographer, should they become your continuous light source for studio photography? Let's shed some light on this hot topic.
• This 16" reflector has 4 sockets and comes with 4 55 watt flicker-free fluorescent, spiral bulbs. These bulbs are similar to the ‘energy saver' bulbs; they differ in that they are rated at 5500 degrees Kelvin; that is they are daylight balanced. 55 watts in fluorescents translates into 1000 watts of light output. There are 4 switches on the back of the unit so you can use the bulbs in 1 to 4 strengths; either one at a time or all.
These long lasting “cool” lights emit very little heat and can stay on all day long without a problem.
The Flashpoint CL-4 can be used with Digital Cameras or Camcorders and is great for shooting portraits, or still life.
