If you want to shoot time-lapse videos like a pro, the Flashpoint Wireles Wave Commander Remote Intervalometer makes time-lapse image capture easy--even for a first-timer! It sets and fires your camera's shutter at pre-set intervals. It also sets your camera's exposure time remotely and triggers your camera's shutter from a remote distance. It is optimized for Time-Lapse Recording, Behind The Scenes Coverage and Surveillance.

Here's hands-on look at the Flashpoint Wave Commander: In this time-lapse video of rising dough, we compressed 4 hours into 26 action-packed seconds. We used a total of 500 JPEGs, shot in manual exposure and focus mode. (Final video assembled in Adobe Premiere Elements after being batch-processed in Adobe Photoshop Elements.)
Let's take a closer look at Flashpoint Wave Commander.
There are three parts to the Flashpoint Wireless Wave Commmander Remote Intervalometer: A receiver, a transmitter, and a connecting cable (sold separately) that connects the receiver to your camera. Both the remote transmitter and receiver run on AAA batteries, with a claimed 20,000 shots per battery set. There are four radio channels so you can run multiple units, or switch channels to avoid radio interference.
To get started, mount the receiver on the flash shoe (or just tape it to your tripod leg if you need the flash shoe for a flash) and connect it to the camera via the appropriate cable. The Flashpoint Wireless Wave Commander Remote Intervalometer comes in packages with cables for Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, and Sony cameras with remote accessory ports.
The remote control is simple: Just press the big shutter release button. Flashpoint claims a 350-foot range, but we were able to operate the camera from approximately 500 feet away. Since it is operated via radio frequency, line of sight is not necessary and in fact, we were also able to trigger the shutter from the other side of a wall.
Using the four-way toggle switch and Set button, choose exposure length, intervals between exposure, number of shots in the sequence, and delay time in hours, minutes, and seconds until the first shot. You can shoot up to 399 shots, or choose unlimited if you're shooting more. Intervals can be as short as 1 second or as long as 99:59:59.
For exposures less than 1 second, set shutter speed on the camera. If you are planning on a long exposure, set your camera's shutter speed to "B" (bulb) while in Manual exposure mode. Now go to the "Long" setting to set the exposure time in hours, minutes and seconds, for any length from 1 sec to 99:59:59.
From the Manufacturer The Flashpoint Wave Commander Wireless Radio Remote Intervalometer/Timer/Shutter Release Set for the Canon 3-Pin RS-60 N3 accessory port is a remote shutter release that enhances a photographer's ability to preprogram a sequence of exposures over time on your SLR camera and control it from up to 330 feet away. Any time related function is controlled; long exposures, delayed exposures, self-timer, time lapses, and interval shooting. The Wave Commander is perfect for time lapse recording for behind the scene coverage, photographing objects and wildlife sensitive to human presence, flowers blooming or animated sequences, and recording prolonged astronomical events.

Own one transmitter and receiver set and connect to all popular camera brands like Canon EOS, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Samsung, Pentax, Panasonic, Fujifilm, Minolta, and Sigma by choosing the correct cord. The AAA powered remote has 4 channel options to utilize multiple systems or avoid radio interference.
Preset exposure times, timer delays and intervals up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59seconds in one-second increments. Program from 1 to 399 continuous shots, or set the remote to capture an unlimited stream of photos. The unit also offers audible tone feature which cues with a selection.
The basic functions of a shutter release are not forgotten, the unit has a large, comfortable button for tripping the shutter without touching the camera. Use it to take vibration and hand movement free images, like the original cable release, but silently and without pressure, even without batteries! Just set thecamera as you would without a release, push the remote's shutter button halfway to focus and depress fully to shoot. Slide the shutter release button forward tothe Hold position and the shutter will stay open (bulb) until you release it. Using this feature you can also take a shot manually without interrupting the automated program already in progress.
The Wave Commander features a backlit LCD status display with 4 lines for easy viewing of timer, exposure settings, battery status and program condition. The backlight can be switched off and on when shooting in bright or dark environments.
The handy Wireless Wave Commander is the accessory to always take in your camerabag, for use as an old fashioned shutter release, enhanced self-timer option, intervelometer, to control superb long exposures, or time-lapse photography - The Flashpoint Wave Commander puts you in command of time.
Have been using this wireless shutter release regularly since it arrived. I have only used the manual setting but the wireless has been perfect. Will set the timer when the composition deems it - and see it in action soon.
So easy to use as a release or timed shooting. Would recommend it to amateurs as well as pros. Used in conjunction with a tripod it can't be beat. At 73 years old I was getting a little shaky for hand-held shooting and this item remedied my problem.
Time-lapse videography is fun. If you've never done it before, you might feel intimidated by the learning curve, but you needn't worry. I should know: When Adorama asked me to review the Read MoreComments(6)
