Client: Get a Flashpoint Rovelight 600B Monolight and more power to you! And dress warm!

Introducing the solution for studio quality flash totally independent of power cords and generators: The Flashpoint Rovelight 600 MonoLight. A self-contained full featured 600ws strobe that goes anywhere, with its own interchangeable internal high energy 6600mAh lithium battery, with wireless controller, capable of over 500 full power flash bursts on a single charge, without heavy inverters, generators or external battery packs.

The compact Rovelight 600B has a 22 step range of accurate regulated power from full to 1/128th power, controlable from the rear console or the remote controller. Flash duration can be as low as 1/15,000 second for absolute action stopping power. The handy built in LED modeling lamp conserves your batteries energy reserve, with a special timer for auto shutoff when not in use. Recycle speed is selectable between 2 fast modes .3-3.5s or .3-4.5s and offers confirmation with audio and modeling light indication. All of these system functions are displayed clearly on the generous LED display, including the link to the included 16 channel TRS 2.4GHz Remote Controller.

The Rovelight 600B can be triggered using the TRS radio controller, intelligent or basic optical slave, or traditionally with a standard 3.5mm sync cord.

This unit can be accessorized with extra Lithium Batteries, and, if you should ever need, an Artic Parka.

I shoot tons of dance photos in studio so short flash durations are very important. But Einsteins due to their short light tails makes it very difficult to use HSS. I have now used the Rovelight in two commercial sessions outdoors and it's incredible. The light is fairly consistent in terms of color and the HSS feature is just what I needed. I won't hesitate to purchase another should I find that I need a second strobe for on location work.

Awesome Portable Solution

By

from Killeen TX

This light is the ultimate portable solution for me. I have the A7s, A6000 and the A7II (you know the maker) and I am able to synch above the cameras synch speed with this light. A max of 1/4000 on the a6000 and 1/8000 on the other cameras. You will have to purchase a capable trigger such as the Phottis Odin for Sony that Adorama sells in order for this to work. The only dislike that I have is that the remote does not show the power setting and the remotes turns off after 3.5 minutes of no use. It's an inconvenience that I can live with..

Super Powerful, Super Portable & HSS!

By

from Morgan Hill, CA

I originally had the Flashpoint mount in this light, but returned them for the Bowens. I'll outline the reasons below. But first, the good stuff. This light competes with the likes of the Profoto B1, which I've been drooling over for a year. However, this light does something even better - and that's HSS! I'd gladly trade TTL for HSS for outdoor work. This light is a game-changer. The HSS is unique in that it will operate at full power, all the way down to 1/16. It's an extended light rather than a rapid pulse, which means you're not limited to the number of shots you can take. Power? The 600W rating is quite real, and that was a bit of a surprise for a battery powered light. The color is quite consistent throughout the power range, with a bit of a shift at the very low end. This light makes Alien Bee 400's look like a dim flashlight. And the reviews and tests I've seen are beginning to back this up. The build of the light is excellent, with a metal body and a well designed and built swivel. The easy to read LCD panel is easy and simple to navigate which is good – the scrap of paper that passes for a manual is uncontaminated by information. The battery (arrived charged) slips in easily and is rated for approximately 400 shots. I'm leaning towards believing the rating as I've not charged my batteries yet. While the built in battery is the best thing about this light compared to competitors with external battery packs, it does make for a top-heavy light stand. I have zero issues with my Manfrotto 1051BAC stands, but putting this onto an old, cheap air stand made for a slightly scary-wobbly effect. I wouldn't fully extend it, that's for sure. So a good stand is recommended! The combination of power and HSS has been a paradigm shift for my shooting. I was still saving up to have enough Speedlites to shoot things I can do with just one of these lights, much less 2. In Syl Arena's book he describes how he had something like a dozen speedlites to do the cover of his book. I can do it for the price of one 600EX-RT now. I'm not throwing away my 600EX-RT's, but these have changed things for me! I'm no longer limited by subject size or distance! The transmitter might be the only low point. It's quite small, and occasionally needs to be reset by the undocumented reset button under the battery door. However when it's working it's quite easy to operate your lights, or to add to a transceiver unit such as a Yongnuo or Radiopopper to operate other flashes. Additionally, the flash has an optical eye, so you can forego the transmitter in most studio type environments. The audible confirmation could stand to be a little louder – but I'd rather it be quiet than scare pets and children – like Yongnuo flashes for instance! The Bowens light has a built in reflector around the bulb, creating additional reflection as well as some protection when changing light modifiers. The reflector is a 5" with diffuser, which fits into the supplied high quality case. I love having all my stuff in 1 case! The biggest gripe I have with the Bowens mount is it's somewhat loose. Not fall off loose, but rattle around loose. One other thing to point out is that you cannot use this and charge the battery at the same time. This isn't an issue for me because I'm usually on location. If this is an issue you might consider buying with the extra battery. The Flashpoint version has no reflector around the Bulb. It comes with an 8" reflector which does not fit into the case. Nor is there a small reflector available. Also, the umbrella pass-through hole in the reflector doesn't line up with the swivel, so you can't use an umbrella! It was these things (although pictured) that were deal killers for me with the Flashpoint version. However if they're not an issue, it may be worth the additional savings for you. This is an incredible bang-for-the-buck product with technology that didn't exist just a couple of years ago. For the price, this is a 5 star product. IMHO you'd have to spend twice as much for a product that might look better (Profoto B1), but wouldn't perform as well.

I like the size and what can be done in a small unit. Wanted to add a image manual so others could print if needed in the future.

Brian F  What is difference in the mounts?
KENNY G  I use Bowens lGemini studio lights and the Bowens mounts are specific to certain modifiers. I live the way Bowens mounts fit. This light is fabulous and now works with all my other Bowens softboxes. The phottix Luna golfing beauty dish and Octobox are great with the Bowens mount for this light. Great for location lighting and studio.
BOOGIETEK B  Does it work only with the battery? Can I use it with AC only when needed?
Michael B  as far as I remember, it says you MUST unplug the charger when use teh flash, so probably NO
