the transmitter is lite and compact,my older trigger is much larger and heavyer and not as versatile or as easy to setup.this unit works very well with studio lites as well as with hotshoe units.it will slide onto an umbrella or mount onto a tripod,it can use a sync. cord or a hotshoe,making it easy and fast to use in enviroments outside the studio.the good thing about a radio slave over an optical unit is you don't have to worry about someone else firing off a flash an setting off your lites.i rccomend getting at least one extra receiver.the cost is low for it's capability.
